me tell you something.
Lonnie, the security guy at work?
He used to come back to the NOC quite often.
He quit coming around so much while back.
Never really knew why.
I would always still stop and talk to him at the courtesy desk.
This older lady comes in about 2-3 AM.
Shes nice.
Sometimes we would all just shoot the shit for a while.
Then I would go back to work and she would start her day etc.
Lonnie burns a lot of movies for her.
Its always good conversation and laughs.
Last Monday night she comes in.
Same as always.
I left, she stayed and talked to Lonnie for a while when I wasn't there.
Next night Im talking to Lonnie and she walks up to the desk.
Only this time she looks different than she ever has before.
She is glowing.
Smiling from ear to ear like never before.
Very enthusiastic and glad to see me.
I thought "After all this time this is a lil odd."
Next night I asked Lonnie if he had said anything to her about me as I could tell she was acting different.
Lonnie goes on about how we were having a good conversation about football and that must have been why she was looking forward to seeing me again.
Yeah...right.
That wasn't the deal.
It was actually pretty obvious it wasn't the deal.
Me and Lonnie are talking.
Out of the blue he brings up "that girl you were messing with?, she didn't know what she wanted."
I hadn't said anything to him about you in probably well over a year and a half.
Now just why would that be? That he would bring you up and Maureen be acting all giddy and just so glad to be around me?
When I called to get the appointment to get the bike serviced.
I asked what time was available.
Cheryl said "Tell us when you want to be here and we will make room for you."
I was like, "Thats odd, they aint normally like that."
I mean I like the respect and all but I could just tell something was different.
They didn't bring you up.
Haven't since I told you I want her and Josh to be there.
When we settled up I was like "That will be it for a while."
Cheryl says "Unless you want some pretties..."
They know whats coming.
It's obvious.
Kenny looked at me different when I was leaving the other day.
I could just tell.
Not specifically, but he just had a "Damn dude..." about his nature.
Then throw in the Hancock County rumor mill and I think it pretty safe to stay where were at.
But think about it for a minute.
Think about how I feel.
The security guard and Maureen at work and the couple at the bike shop know more about whats to unfold in my near future than I do.
I just don't like it anymore.
Lay it on me.
Somebody said they was ready and could handle it about a year and a half ago.
Show me.
We will make it with the furnace,
Was about this cold last night and house warmed up through the day.
It will again.
Warmer even at the end of the week.
Call mom and Al and get someone over here while I am gone.
Need a new furnace? Well then we just get one.
Somehow?
I don't think it's gonna matter much here before too long.
Love you.
More than you will ever know.
