Read

this last night :-).

Fun Facts:

In the 1890's Richard Monarch purchased the E.W. Murphy distillery. The distillery was small as it had a 60 bushel a day mashing capacity and could store around 1500 barrels. He supposedly purchased it so he and his friends would never run out of good whiskey :-).

When John Medley came to America from  England in 1634? Wanna take a guess what he brought with him? Yeah, the family still :-). How bad ass is that? 1634? Crossing on a boat? "Yeah were leaving and going to a new land but you know whats coming with us sweetheart? Damn straight the family stills comin with us."

James Crow is credited scientifically perfecting the "sour mash" method of distilling.

T.J. Megibben is credited with creating the Old Fashion cocktail at The Pendennis Club in Louisville.

Even Hancock County had a distillery in the late 1890's.
