So?
What happened when the people prayed and mourned and humbled themselves?
Mercy was given.
Not only were they restored?
They were restored to a better condition than they were before.
Such are the ways of the Lord God Almighty.
Well?
Now what?
The Day of the Lord
“And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions.
Now?
We are in the future.
"And afterwards"
points to future events.
Guess what?
The future is now.
God's time isn't linear.
Past present and future are all rolled into one.
How could there be a past for the divine which created time?
The pouring out of his spirit on all people?
Happening.
Sons and daughters prophesying?
Happening.
Old men dreaming dreams and young men seeing visions?
Happening.
And you know what?
The outpouring of his spirit?
It will be just like it was with his army he sent.
"such as never was in ancient times
nor ever will be in ages to come."
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
Acts 2:16 -17
"But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;" "
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God,
I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh:
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:"
So?
Just as those who repented and humbled themselves were not only made whole,
but restored to a state that was better than they were before with worldly things?
"sending you grain, new wine and olive oil,
enough to satisfy you fully
for the pastures in the wilderness are becoming green.
The trees are bearing their fruit;
the fig tree and the vine yield their riches
for he has given you the autumn rains
He sends you abundant showers,
both autumn and spring rains, as before.
The threshing floors will be filled with grain;
the vats will overflow with new wine and oil"
(Law of double intention and all :-)
He will do the same thing with his spiritual blessings in the last days as well.
Isaiah 44:3
"For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring."
All flesh.
Jew and Gentile.
Pour = abundance.
I will show wonders in the heavens
and on the earth,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
Do I even have to say anything about this verse?
Have we not already seen some of the wonders in the heavens?
And in the last days?
On the earth?
"blood and fire and billows of smoke."
The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
Deut. 6:22
"And the Lord shewed signs and wonders,
great and sore,
upon Egypt,
upon Pharaoh,
and upon all his household, before our eyes"
Can't possibly happen again right?
Yeah, okay, sure.
It has been suggested that this is not in reference to eclipses
but that this would be due to the state of the world at the end of days.
The last day.
The beginning of eternity.
This day will be joyful for those whose trust is in the Lord,
likewise, shall it be terrifying for the nonbelievers.
"The very best thing a Christian can do, is
be ready to meet their Lord.
We are not to fear these things, but rejoice when
they happen, because our redemption is near."
And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved;
for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
there will be deliverance,
as the Lord has said,
even among the survivors
whom the Lord calls.
My interpretation of this?
Freedom train is coming for all those that wanna get on board.
Everyone.
Everyone who calls on him will be saved.
Best to get your ticket.
All aboard!
