“But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ Create in me a pure heart, O God,

    and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. For the sake of your name, Lord,

    forgive my iniquity, though it is great. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.     and may your laws sustain me. I have strayed like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I have not forgotten your commands. Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Show me your ways, Lord,

    teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me for you are God my Savior,

    and my hope is in you all day long. Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory!
