Some
peoples idea of success?
Doesn't involve a double wide in rural america working for the mill or factory.
It's just not what some people want for themselves.
It's not a crime or a sin to want something different than what everybody else expects you to want.
Everybody else expects you to want what they want for you, not what you want for yourself.
The sin?
Is the craving of wealth, money etc.
Not the having it.
Or the acquiring of it.
The craving of it like a drug.
Thats the sin
People that know me?
Know thats not me.
I saw a way for a better life for myself and my sons future and I went for it.
Risked it all, gave up all I had almost.
Chasing a dream.
Don't blame me it worked out.
Most people wouldn't have made it four months, let alone four years.
Be wrong a million times, everybody laughs at you.
Be right once?
Everybody wishes they were you.
Thats the whole problem.
Nobody wants to be wrong a million times.
But everybody wants to be you the one time you were right.
Just doesn't work that way.
Everything you see around you that is man made?
Was once just an idea in somebodys head.
Dreams
I've said this all before but here goes again.
If you are absolutely positive?
With night ht slightest bit of doubt?
Then go for it.
You can always get back to living a mediocre life if things don't work out.
Thats the biggest mistake people make.
They're just not willing to risk the comfortable security of the known for the unknown.
They don't think, "What if it works out beyond my wildest dreams? What if it turns out better?
Than I could have ever imagined?"
Most people just aren't willing to take the risk.
And for good reason.
Are you willing?
To be ridiculed endlessly?
To be mocked?
Made fun of?
Loose everything or almost everything you have ever worked for?
Are you willing?
To loose friends?
Family members?
How strongly do you feel?
To risk your comfortable existence?
For something that may not pan out?
If your not 100% certain?
Then don't bother.
You'll never make it.
If you're 99.99% sure you can make your dream a reality?
It wont ever happen.
That .01% will grow and multiply when the endless criticism and the mocking comes.
It will grow to the point where you wont believe in your dream anymore.
To me?
I know why I was sold on my dream 100%
I trusted that voice all my life.
And while things didn't always go like I had hoped?
They always worked out.
Better than expected.
I know which voice to listen to.
It's never let me down.
I know who's it is.
It's God almighty.
And I thank him daily.
I love you Lucy.
God bless you sweetheart.
James 4:17
"If anyone,
then,
knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them."
The sin then,
is to live a life
less than the one
you are capable of.
I know who I'm supposed to be with.
I know where I'm supposed to go.
I know what I'm supposed to do.
So?
No problem.
Done deal.

Things
"You can get another one and quit it when the time comes."
Said like they knew when the time was coming.
"You'll make it out there, you know where your strength comes from."
Said like they know where, out there is.
"You don't need any of that stuff you have in storage anymore."
I may not need it.
But I want it.
It's not much.
It's memories to me.
And how does somebody know I don't need it anymore?
I love you Lucy.

They all spoke to me one one way or another.

Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 24:1-51
Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple. But he answered them, “You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.” As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?” And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. ...

Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments! His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, merciful, and righteous. It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice. ...

Luke 21:2-4
And he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
Luke 14:7-11
Now he told a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the places of honor, saying to them, “When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not sit down in a place of honor, lest someone more distinguished than you be invited by him, and he who invited you both will come and say to you, ‘Give your place to this person,’ and then you will begin with shame to take the lowest place. But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when your host comes he may say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at table with you. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Luke 8:4-8
And when a great crowd was gathering and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable: “A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled underfoot, and the birds of the air devoured it. And some fell on the rock, and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it. And some fell into good soil and grew and yielded a hundredfold.” As he said these things, he called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
Luke 8:1-56
Soon afterward he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him, and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod's household manager, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their means. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
2 Peter 1:1-21
Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, ...
1 John 2:3
And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.
John 14:23-24
Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me.
Mark 10:29-30
Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.
Matthew 6:19-21
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Prophets Reward
Matthew 10:41
The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward.
Mark 9:41
For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward.
Mark 10:21
And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
Galatians 6:6
One who is taught the word must share all good things with the one who teaches.
Matthew 5:42
Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.
Psalm 119:89
Forever, O Lord, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens.
1 John 5:12
Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
Romans 16:17-18
I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.
Acts 20:35
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Christ
spoke in parables
but God wouldn't use metaphors and the like?
I just have a hard time with that.
Always have.
You
"Muslims of today are often too rigid with the letter of the law,
but unmindful of it's spirit and the moral purposes."
Could say the exact same about a lot of Christians.
Are you?
Matthew 10:17
Beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues.
Matthew 10:21-22
Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. And you will be hated by all for my name’s sake.
"So the first thought that should come to mind is: Life is not so easy for prophets. "Prophets are people who are completely identified with God’s message. They’re not people who have a message from God. They are the message from God."
"That’s the nature of being a prophet: Either get burned up from the inside by God or burned up from the outside by those who don’t like what God has to say. In the Bible, false prophets get stoned for telling a lie. True prophets get stoned for telling the truth."
"So from the standpoint of this world, if we ask, “What is the prophet’s reward?”, the answer is clear: Death. Persecution followed by suffering followed by death. Really painful death, in most cases." In Hebrews 11, we read about the great pioneers of faith. Many of these were prophets. And in Hebrews 11:36-38 we get a list of how many of the prophets suffered and died:
"Some faced jeers and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were put to death by stoning; they were sawed in two; they were killed by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated—the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and in holes in the ground.
Matthew 5:10-12,
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Revelation 11:18
The time has come for judging the dead,
and for rewarding your servants the prophets
and your people who revere your name,
both great and small—
and for destroying those who destroy the earth.
Matthew 23:34
Therefore I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.
"That is what this scripture reveals about the character of God. It is not only that “He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me,” as he says in the scripture today. It is also that he who sent the prophets sent himself, to die the death that all prophets die due to their identification with him.
When the writer of Hebrews lists the suffering of all the pioneers of faith, he writes in Hebrews 11:16, “Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God.” But it is because God himself suffered the very same things that we do that we are not ashamed to call him our God: Immanuel, God with us."

"All
to Jesus I surrender
All to Him I freely give
I will ever love and trust Him
In His presence daily live
All to Jesus I surrender
Humbly at His feet I bow
Worldly pleasures all forsaken
Take me Jesus take me now
I surrender all
I surrender all
All to Thee my blessed Saviour
I surrender all
All to Jesus I surrender
Make me Saviour wholly Thine
Let me feel the Holy Spirit
Truly know that Thou art mine
All to Jesus I surrender
Lord I give myself to Thee
Fill me with Thy love and power
Let Thy blessings fall on me
All to Jesus I surrender
Now I feel the sacred flame
Oh the joy of full salvation
Glory glory to His name"
Why
I can hear my Savior calling,
I can hear my Savior calling,
I can hear my Savior calling,
“Take thy cross and follow, follow Me.”
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
I’ll go with Him, with Him all the way.
I’ll go with Him through the waters,
I’ll go with Him through the waters,
I’ll go with Him through the waters,
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
I’ll go with Him, with Him all the way.
I’ll go with Him through the garden,
I’ll go with Him through the garden,
I’ll go with Him through the garden,
I’ll go with Him, with Him all the way.
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
I’ll go with Him, with Him all the way.
I’ll go with Him to dark Calv’ry,
I’ll go with Him to dark Calv’ry,
I’ll go with Him to dark Calv’ry,
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
I’ll go with Him, with Him all the way.
I’ll go with Him to the judgment,
I’ll go with Him to the judgment,
I’ll go with Him to the judgment,
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
I’ll go with Him, with Him all the way.
He will give me grace and glory,
He will give me grace and glory,
He will give me grace and glory,
And go with me, with me all the way.
do we sing it.

I've
said for a long time I subscribe to the multiverse theory.
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth..."
Matthew 10:33-35
Matthew 10:33-35
But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.
“Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn
“‘a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—
Isaiah 48:10-11
Isaiah 48:10-11
See, I have refined you, though not as silver;
I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.
For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this.
How can I let myself be defamed?
I will not yield my glory to another.
Did I cause some of it myself?
Sure.
But a large part of what Ive been through the last few years has been testing.
Cause what I've been through is nothing compared to whats coming here soon.
Never once did I turn away from my God.
Every day.
Even my worst of days,
everyday, I gave thanks always.
Prayed for others.
Asked for nothing in return.
Always, always thankful, everyday.
For the roof over my head, the clothes on my back, the food in my belly.
Hosea 9:7-8
Hosea 9:7-8
The days of punishment are coming,
the days of reckoning are at hand.
Let Israel know this.
Because your sins are so many
and your hostility so great,
the prophet is considered a fool,
the inspired person a maniac.
The prophet, along with my God,
is the watchman over Ephraim,
yet snares await him on all his paths,
and hostility in the house of his God.
Consider it fulfilled.
Again.
Apostles’ Creed
Traditional Version
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;*
the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic** church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

If they are all from God?
Why would they not be considered infallible?
I love that we say The Apostoles Creed every Sunday.
I say it without hesitation as it boils down all the major constructs of my faith into a couple of simple paragraphs. It reminds me every week, exactly what it is we as Christians believe.
Christians forget.
It's okay to disagree.
It's okay to disagree on a lot.
Thats why it's not a religion but a personal relationship.
But whats said in the Apostles Creed?
There can be no disagreement on.
None.
Like I said, I say it every Sunday, without hesitation.
It's what I truly believe.
Dear
fundamentalist Christians.
Where did science, mathematics and the laws of physics and the universe come from?
Job 38:33
Do you know the laws of the universe?
Can you use them to regulate the earth?
Jeremiah 33:25
But this is what the Lord says:
I would no more reject my people
than I would change my laws that govern night and day, earth and sky.
People will accept the science that gives them every modern convenience and ignore the ones right in front of them.
Your car.
Your phone.
Your electricity.
Your AC.
Your refrigerator.
Your washer and dryer.
The lights in your home.
The medicine you take when your sick.
Nobody has a problem with the science behind any of these things.
But come to the physical Laws of the universe?
All the sudden nobody wants to believe.
It's just a lil odd don't you think?
It is to me.
I love you Lucy.
So much sweetheart.
"They
will interpret scripture differently than before.
They will seek out answers on their own
they will not be content to be spoon fed what to believe."
Fundamentalist Christians
that discount the mystical or supernatural make no sense to me.
I just can't put those two things together in my head.
I know this much.
If you don't believe in the supernatural or the mystical?
You'll never see it.
With the God I worship?
All things are possible.
All.
Things.
Not some.
Not them but not you.
Not this but not that.
All things...
are possible.
Matthew 19:26-30
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?”
Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.
Showers of Blessing
Went to revival with my buddy the other night.
The first song we sang?
Showers of Blessing.
I just smiled.
Thought yeah, about to be :-).
Sunday during Bro Joes sermon, he mentioned the Desert Fathers.
"Much of Eastern Christian spirituality, including the Hesychast movement, had its roots in the practices of the Desert Fathers. Even religious renewals such as the German evangelicals and Pietists in Pennsylvania, the Devotio Moderna movement, and the Methodist Revival in England are seen by modern scholars as being influenced by the Desert Fathers
Kinda odd.
First time I had ever heard them brought up in a Sunday sermon.
Read about them in the book The New Mystics.
"The solitude, austerity, and sacrifice of the desert was seen by Anthony as an alternative to martyrdom, which was formerly seen by many Christians as the highest form of sacrifice."
There is absolutely nothing wrong with solitude, austerity, and sacrifice if that is the way one feels led to be in communion with the divine.
"Much of Eastern Christian spirituality...had its roots in the practices of the Desert Fathers."
This is a point John Crowder makes in his book The New Mystics. The Western church pretty much discounted this type of spirituality, mysticism, etc and continues to do so to this day. The Eastern church was much more accepting of it.
I believe, as Crowder ststes in his book that these types of movements will be brought back and that the time is ripe now, or in the not to distant future for more spiritual movements to take place.
Job 14:7-9
“At least there is hope for a tree:
If it is cut down, it will sprout again,
and its new shoots will not fail.
Its roots may grow old in the ground
and its stump die in the soil,
yet at the scent of water it will bud
and put forth shoots like a plant.
Think of the desert fathers as a tree that was cut down.
In the end times?
It shall be renewed.
One might ask how is that going to happen?
Joel 2:23
Be glad, people of Zion,
rejoice in the Lord your God,
for he has given you the autumn rains
because he is faithful.
He sends you abundant showers,
both autumn and spring rains, as before.
The rains spoke about here are the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
The Spring rains usually thought of on the Day of Pentecost
and the Autumn rains the outpouring of the Holy Spirit during the end times.
Joel 2:28-29
The Day of the Lord
“And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions.
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
So Monday we went to work.
Looked like rain all morning.
All morning I'm thinking
"Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead."
Late in the morning?
It rained :-).
