Talladega Super speedway and "The Big One."

This is so great.
I just love it.
2.66 miles.
Speeds of close to 200 MPH.
33 degree Banking in the corners.
Cars running in huge packs.
Just think of the force of the wind with 20 to30 cars all bunched up going that fast.

Mom came home from church and I was already there, I told her I was really looking forward to watching the race with Al, that this track is just crazy, that there is always, "The Big One" (wreck) that is coming.
I told her you can go the whole race and it not happen, get down to the last lil bit of the race and?...

Walla, there it is.
You can just about count on it.
Happened in the spring race this year.

"The Big One."

They showed the stats at the spring race here this year but that was a different broadcast network.
I can't find it anywhere, but it's something like 17 out of the last 20 races at Talledega have had crashes which have involved 13 or more cars.
Some of them involved 20 or more.
20 or more.
200 MPH.
Insane.
The cars are so safe these days it's incredible.

So?

We're watching the race.
Couple cautions here and there, no biggie yet.

Then?

17 laps left.
Sixteen cars involved.

Everybody walks away unhurt.
My guy caused it he said.
He apologized.

Like I said, you can just about count on it.

My buddy?
He said they call this speedway:

"The worlds fastest junkyard."

:-).

Love you Lucy.
