The metaphor used in the book for the onset of the end times?

It shall be like labor pains, coming out of nowhere.

I re-read all the verses I had highlighted in the Old Testament yesterday.

Just posting the ones that stood out for some reason either when read initially or when re-read yesterday.

Just trying to post the ones that have a similar theme together first before going on and doing the others which I'm just going to post chronologically.

Remnant

"a small remaining quantity of something."

Ezera 9:15

Lord, the God of Israel, you are righteous! 

We are left this day as a remnant. 

Here we are before you in our guilt, 

though because of it not one of us can stand in your presence.”

Isaiah 37:31-32

Once more a remnant of the kingdom of Judah

will take root below and bear fruit above.

For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant,

and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors.

The zeal of the Lord Almighty

will accomplish this.

Jeremiah 42:2

Jeremiah the prophet and said to him, 

“Please hear our petition and pray to the Lord your God for this entire remnant. 

For as you now see, though we were once many, now only a few are left.

Joel 2:32

And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved;

for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem

there will be deliverance,

as the Lord has said,

even among the survivors

whom the Lord calls.

Micah 4:6-7

“In that day,” declares the Lord,

“I will gather the lame;

I will assemble the exiles

and those I have brought to grief.

I will make the lame my remnant,

those driven away a strong nation.

The Lord will rule over them in Mount Zion

from that day and forever.

Micah 5:8

The remnant of Jacob will be among the nations,

in the midst of many peoples,

like a lion among the beasts of the forest,

like a young lion among flocks of sheep,

which mauls and mangles as it goes,

and no one can rescue.

Haggai 1:14

So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, 

and the spirit of Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest, 

and the spirit of the whole remnant of the people. 

They came and began to work on the house of the Lord Almighty, their God,

Over and over again small portions were left out of what was.
