Courage

again from the Layman's Bible Encyclopedia

COURAGE

That quality of mind

which enable one to meet danger and difficulties with firmness, valor.

Courage may manifest itself in many ways, including:

 boldness,

endurance,

bravery,

and gallantry

It has been viewed by men everywhere as a cardinal virtue

(Go get ya some of those :-)

The Bible contains numerous examples of men and women whose natural courage was reinforced by their faith in God

Exhortations to Courage

Deut. 31:6

"Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee, he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Josh 1:7

'Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

Psa. 27:14

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Phil. 1:28

And in nothing terrified by your adversaries:

which is to them

an evident token of perdition,

(Destruction, their souls)

but to you salvation,

and that of God.

Courage through Faith

ABRAHAM

Heb. 11:8

"By faith Abraham when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed, and he went out, not knowing whither he went. "By faith Abraham when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises, offered up his only begotten son.

(Resonates...heavy...)

MOSES

Heb. 11:24-27

"By faith Moses when he was years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, "Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season: Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt

for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.

"By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

(Yeah, you guessed it, resonates)

DANIEL

Dan 6:10

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and, his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

PETER AND JOHN

Acts 4:19

But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right In the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

(In other words:

(We'd rather be right in front of God than you,

and which is really more important anyway?

Tell us plz...)

These are all people who knew what they had seen was real

and they had the courage to say so.

Yeah...

Resonates.

lil bit...
