Unlike many?
I don't mind admitting my mistakes.
1) I thought that the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter
could have been hit by 3I/ATLAS
on its close pass by of mars.
That is apparently not the case:
Babies that AI Cannot Create (as Yet)
Avi Loeb Medium 12/12/25
"The MAVEN spacecraft entered Mars’ orbit in September 2014, aiming to explore the upper atmosphere of Mars and its interactions with the Sun. The spacecraft also served as a communications relay station for rovers on the Martian surface, such as Curiosity and Perseverance. Gladly, this task is also handled by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which continues to operate as usual."
(Avi's blog is the only place where
I have seen:
"this task is also handled by
the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter,
which continues to operate as usual."
Given that Avi is not mentioning anything about amateur astrophotographers outperforming NASA and thus showing no concern for that fact whatsoever, places him squarely in the category of gatekeepers he so blatantly called out:
"The effort of gatekeepers to hide
anomalies and maintain
traditional thinking
will ultimately fail."
Preliminary Anomalies of 3I/ATLAS
Avi Loeb Medium 7/12/25
And that is why
it was stated above:
"That is apparently not the case"
Im going to need to see that somewhere else
besides Avi's blog before I go with it.
Particularly since
NASA themselves didn't say anything of the sort
in their press release
about loosing contact with the Maven Orbiter.
NASA Teams Work MAVEN Spacecraft Signal Loss
NASA 12/09/25
They did however
give the date of signal loss as 12/06/25.
Which was something else
I had made an issue of.
(That would be clarification, correction #2.)
Also:
I had made an issue of when 3I/ATLAS should be cooling down after its trip around the sun that was erroneous.
(Clarification, correction #3)
Comet 3I/ATLAS is getting greener and brighter
as it approaches Earth, new images reveal
livescience.com 12/12/25
"Among the gases spilling out of 3I/ATLAS is diatomic carbon (C2) — a molecule of two carbon atoms that emits a greenish light, according to a statement from the National Science Foundation's NOIRLab, which operates the Gemini North telescope along with its twin Gemini South telescope in Chile."
"Many solar system comets give off a similar green hue when activated by the sun, including last year's "Mother of Dragons" comet 12P/Pons-Brooks and the recently discovered Comet C/2025 F2 (SWAN)."
"However, it's noteworthy that 3I/ATLAS appeared distinctly redder when it was first observed by Gemini South in late August, months before its close flyby of the sun, according to NOIRLab. This is evidence that 3I/ATLAS is releasing new molecules into space as it heats up, offering fresh hints into its mysterious makeup."
"Is another outburst coming?
As the comet approaches its closest point to Earth on Dec. 19 (coming within a comfortable 170 million miles, or 270 million kilometers, of our planet), we may be in for even more surprises."
"What remains unknown is how the comet will behave as it leaves the Sun's vicinity and cools down," NOIRLab representatives wrote in the statement. "Many comets have a delayed reaction in experiencing the Sun's heat due to the lag in time that it takes for heat to make its way through the interior of the comet. A delay can activate the evaporation of new chemicals or trigger a comet outburst."
This I did not know:
"Many comets have a delayed reaction in experiencing the Sun's heat due to the lag in time that it takes for heat to make its way through the interior of the comet."
And that is interesting for a variety or reasons
and in another post here shortly I'll get into
some of that.
But keep in mind
this interstellar object
aint ever been acting
like a comet.

It's about to be information overload on 3I/ATLAS
"Review time.
When all the noise started about 3I/ATLAS back in July
and me and honey first started talking about it
we discussed three distinct possibilities
that were in play,
NONE OF WHICH
have been ruled out.
Those three distinct possibilities
(or some combination there of)
were as follows:
1) A perturbation of Mars orbit
so that it would pass by closer to the earth
during its next "planetary conjunction"
on 2/20/27.
2) 3I/ATLAS heads right toward earth.
3) 3I/ATLAS fragments
when it gets fully around the sun
and the earth
passes through its debris field
for a few months.
All three options are still very much in play..."

I Modeled A Detached Chunk From 3I ATLAS
Is Now On a Path Toward Earth | Avi Loeb

Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished
guests, and fellow explorers of the
cosmos, today we gather to confront a
discovery that reminds us of both the
vastness of our universe and the
delicate vulnerability of our home
planet.
Recent modeling has revealed that
the detached fragment
from the
interstellar object
known as 3I/ATLAS
is now on a trajectory
intersecting with Earth's orbital path
0:27.
I haven't watched the entire thing yet.
Honey was playing that video for me this morning
over coffee and he said that right there
and I said stop it
and just send me the link as
I was knee deep
in the other two post that preceded this one.
Find me anybody else

And why was Avi saying:
"3I/ATLAS is expected to arrive closest to Earth at a distance of 269 million kilometers on December 19, 2025. Let us hope that it will not deliver us any unwanted gifts for the holidays."
