Nixon: "You believe that?"
Billy Graham: "Yes sir."
Nixon: "Good lord,
I cant ever say it, but I believe it."
Caption from the IG post above:
"What does it really mean to be God’s chosen people? Is it based on race, land, or spiritual obedience? Today, Christian Zionism teaches that the modern State of Israel holds a central, divine role in end-times prophecy, and that supporting it is essential for Christian blessing. But is that truly what Scripture teaches?
We need to pause and reflect.
In the Old Testament, God called Israel to be a people set apart, not just by bloodline, but by holiness, mercy, and love. They were called to care for the poor, the widow, the orphan, and the foreigner. Over time, however, Israel repeatedly fell into idolatry, sacrificing even their children to false gods. These weren’t just cultural errors. The Bible says they were sacrificing to demons, not to God. It was a spiritual betrayal."
(Just like wedding your faith to politics is.)
This wasn’t just an Israelite problem. It’s a human problem. Every nation has fallen. Every heart is prone to wander. The entire world lies under the sway of the evil one. The United States is no exception. Neither is modern Israel. Both nations have been stained by blood, injustice, pride, and political corruption. Neither consistently walks in the radical love God requires.
To be truly God’s people is not to wave a flag or own a plot of land. It is to walk in love. The Bible says plainly, whoever does not love does not know God. In Christ, there is neither Jew nor Gentile, for the true children of Abraham are those who walk by faith. The Gospel levels us all.
"This is where Billy Graham stood apart from his contemporaries, like John Hagee, Jerry Falwell, Kenneth Copeland, and Pat Robertson. While many of them preached a theology that made political Israel central to prophecy and Christian blessing, Graham focused on the heart. He differentiated between ethnic Jews, religious Jews, and spiritual Jews, those who had come to faith in Christ.
He refused to reduce salvation to national identity.
(AMEN!
Unlike all the MAGA riff-raff today.)
He did not preach dual-covenant theology.
He preached the Cross."
It simply matches what we
are seeing play out.
"...does the viewpoint
demonstrate a proper method
of interpreting Scripture?...
Does it fit the facts of history?"
~
Walvoord
Yes,
yes it most
certainly does.
