HEAVEN AND HELL Part 4, NT Hell. & Part 5 Conclusions

 4. Hell.

(NT)

"The popular notion of heaven and hell as the abodes of the souls of the dead is more or less correct. But as we have seen, "heaven" is used in a much broader, more significant sense. How then is "hell" used?"

"Three Greek words in the NT are most often used to express concepts associated with hell. The two most significant are gehenna and hādēs. Gehenna occurs twelve times in the NT (Mt 5:22,29-30; 10:28; 18:9; 23:15,33; Mk 9:43,45,47; Lk 12:5; Jas 3:6).

(12 x, Interesting number.

And quit trying to say

it doesn't say hell in the bible

all you are going to do

is end yourself up there.

Per Strong's Concordance

from the link above:

Gehenna

1. valley of (the son of) Hinnom

2. ge-henna (or Ge-Hinnom),

a valley of Jerusalem,

{used (figuratively)

as a name for the place (or state)

of everlasting punishment}

Christ spoke Aramaic

The english word

"Hell"

doesnt exist

in Aramaic.

I just dont see the point

people are trying to make with

"The bible doesn't say Hell."

other than they are trying to say

its not a place.

Okay, have it your way

(Burger king is open.)

But let me ask you something

pretty simple really:

WHY DO YOU CARE SO MUCH

ABOUT SOMETHING

THAT YOU SAY DOESNT EXIST

UNLESS YOU ARE CONCERNED

THAT IT MIGHT?

DUH...

So they used another word for it

What did you expect them to do?

They used a different word

means exactly the same thing.

Reminds me of the scene

from Pulp Fiction:

(One of my all time fav movies btw.)

"In France you know what they call a

quarter pounder with cheese?"

"They don't call it

quarter pounder with cheese?"

"They got the metric system

so they cut the

quarter out."

"And what did it go to?"

"They call it

Royale with Cheese."

IT'S STILL A QUARTER POUNDER!

THIS IS LITERALLY

 HOW STUPID PEOPLE CAN BE.

IT'S THE SAME EXACT THING,

TWO DIFFERENT WORDS.

How much research did anybody do

before declaring:

"The bible doesn't say Hell."

??????????

And Christ spoke Aramaic.

The New Testament is in Greek

So what's the problem other than

people just don't want to think

that its a thing?

Moving on.)

"And

It is always translated

"hell" in the NIV."

"The Greek word translated

"sent... to hell" in

2 Pe 2:4

appears only there

in the NT;..."

(2 Peter 2:4

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell,[a] putting them in chains of darkness[b] to be held for judgment;

2 Peter 2:4

Greek Tartarus

2 Peter 2:4

Some manuscripts

in gloomy dungeons)

"it is tartarod,

which means

"to confine in Tartaros."

Tartaros was the Greek name

for the mythological abyss

where rebellious gods

were confined.

(Thats exactly

what they said they were:

"GODS"

after having left

their immortality cloaks

Jude 6

And the angels which kept not their first estate,

but left their own habitation,

he hath reserved

in everlasting chains under darkness

unto the judgment of the great day.

Thats how they were able to have sex

with mortal women BTW,

they had left their "essence."

And they werent:

"in heaven"

they were on the earth

Mark 12:25

For when they shall rise from the dead,

they neither marry,

nor are given in marriage;

but are as the angels

which are in heaven.

These locked up rebels weren't in heaven,

nor in their "essence" when they committed their

evil deeds.

Point is

they still had superhuman knowledge

(Hello analogy to AI.)

and they sold Humanity

that they were Gods

And humans believed them.

So there's all the false Gods.

Right there.

The hybrid offspring of

mortal women

and those Rebellious Angels

now held in chains.

(Thats not the ones that came with Satan BTW.

Covered this in detail, many times.

Not our focal point here.)

Thats all the false Hindu Gods

the Anunnaki

every last bit of all of

that garbage.

And?

That being the only time

 that term is used

in the New Testament?

And the context is

talking of locked up angels etc.

Gives more credence

to the only interpretation

there is

of

Genesis 6:1-4.

The proper interpretation solves issues

with other difficult passages

the incorrect one

CAUSES MORE ISSUES

than it solves.

Anyway

another bullet in the holster so to speak

of the Angel view of Genesis 6.)

"Hades occurs eleven times in the NT (Mt 11:23; 16:18; Lk 10:15; 16:23; Ac 2:27.31; 1 Co 15:55; Rev 1:18; 6:8: 20:13-14). It is translated "Hades" in the NASB and variously by "death," "the grave," and "Hades" in the NIV.

"The reason for the wider scope

of translations in the NIV

is that this version adopts

the OT sense of the grave

when quoting OT passages that contain S'ol

(Mt 11:23; Lk 10:15; Ac 2:27,31).

These passages and 1 Co 15:55 refer to

the place where the body goes after death."

"But in other hadës means the temporary residence of the persons awaiting final judgment. Luke 16 contains Jesus' story of the rich man and Lazarus. Both of these men died. The rich man found himself in hades, "where he was in torment" (v. 23; cf. v. 28). He was in "agony" and in "fire" (v. 24). But Lazarus was comforted and was in Abraham's very arms. Between those in hadës and the blessed dead there is a great and uncrossable gulf (v. 26)."

(So?

In the realm of the dead

while awaiting judgement

on one side you got

"Paradise

and "in Abrahams Arms"

"Wesley's

"Heavens Antechamber."

"Comfort"

And on the other side you got

Torment and fire and agony.

And that's just

the waiting room

so to speak.

Wait till they end up

where they are going

for eternity eventually.

NOT GOOD.

To be avoided at all cost etc.)

"Many believe that Jesus, at the time of his resurrection, released the saved of OT times from their place of waiting, causing them to go directly into God's presence..."

(Not heaven,

But into his

"presence"

1 Th 4:14

For we believe that Jesus died and rose again,

and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus

those who have fallen asleep in him.

("As shown earlier in this series

they cant be in Heaven

till after the seventh plague.

He will bring those

who have

"fallen asleep in him,"

(Believed in him when they died.)

but not from heaven,

but instead

risen from the grave

to meet him in the air."

"1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.)"

"Also, in Revelation's

prophetic portrayal of the end

it is only those awaiting

final condemnation

who are in hädes when the

"dead will be judged

according to what they have done

as recorded in the books"

(Rev 20:12)."

"In NT times, the

rabbis used the word gehenna

to indicate the place of

final punishment."

("Royale with Cheese"

anybody?)

"Jesus maintained this meaning in the Gospels. In his warnings to his listeners Jesus often spoke of gehenna in association with fire (Mt 5:22; 18:9; Mk 9:43,48). The phrase "eternal fire" is also used of hell, and human beings will be punished there in a fire prepared for "the devil and his angels" (Mt 25:41)."

"The most striking picture of eternal punishment is found in the Book of Revelation. There the state of the condemned is described. They are in a "fiery lake of burning sulfur" (19:20; cf. 20:10), a "lake of fire" (20:14-15), where "they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever" (20:10)."

"5. Conclusions.

Scripture views

each human being

as a person

with an eternal destiny.

 Each life is too significant

to be simply snuffed out.

There will be

a resurrection

of the saved

and

of the lost."

Some additional, simplified,

and not meant to be

"intricate" or "detailed"

points to be considered:

Acts 24:15

And have hope toward God,

which they themselves also allow,

that there shall be

a resurrection of the dead,

both

of the just

and

unjust.

If you got "both" of something?

How many you got?

I dont know how many you got

but I got two of something

when I have

"Both".

The resurrection is not

a single event,

there's two of them

"both

of the just

and unjust."

Also consider:

John 5:28-29

Marvel not at this:

for the hour is coming,

in the which all that are in the graves

shall hear his voice,

29 And shall come forth;

they that have done good,

unto the resurrection of life

and they that have done evil,

unto the resurrection of damnation.

Two resurrections

Two judgements

All separate from one another.

2 Corinthians 5:10

For we must all appear

before the judgment seat of Christ

so that each of us may receive

what is due us

for the things done

while in the body,

whether good or bad.

This happens after Christ return

We being

all who believe

This is not about

your souls salvations.

This is about determining

the believers

 treasures in heaven

from which their sins

after having accepted Christ

will be subtracted

and thrown into the fire.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw,

(You can not build

on a heavenly foundation

using worldly things.)

13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15

If it is burned up,

the builder will suffer loss

but yet will be saved

—even though only as one

escaping through the flames.

So that's:

The resurrection

and judgement for believers

"The just".

As in

"Justified".

As in

"All of your sins washed away

when you accept him."

And we just covered

what happens to peoples sins

after

they have accepted him.

Somebody asked me once:

"What if your sins are greater than

 your rewards/metaphorical house

you are building?"

I said some thing to the effect of:

"If you truly believe?

You are going to live your life

in such a manner than reflects it

and that cant/wont happen."

And then

after

Christ millennial reign on earth

Revelation 20:1-10

There will be the resurrection

and judgement of the wicked.

"White throne Judgement"

Revelation 20:11-15

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away;

and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life:

and the dead were judged

out of those things

which were written in the books,

according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them:

and they were judged

every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell

were cast into the lake of fire.

This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found

written in the book of life

was cast into the lake of fire.

They are not believers.

"Their works"

refers to the evil

they had done.

NOTHING

IS GOING TO SAVE THEM.

JUST LIKE

NOTHING

IS GOING TO CONDEM

BELIEVERS

AT THE JUDGEMENT SEAT

OF CHRIST.

Romans 8:1

There is therefore now

no condemnation to them

which are in Christ Jesus

who walk not after the flesh,

but after the Spirit.

SO?

My two main points

in doing all of this were:

1) Hell is a real place.

The bible and Christ speak of a place

of eternal punishment and torment,

words and languages may change

but the meanings stay the same.

2)This notion

(like I was sold

when I was younger)

of:

You die.

Your body goes in the grave.

Your soul goes

immediately

to be judged.

Immediately

you either get

Heaven

or you get

 hell.

IS JUST NOT

SCRIPTURLY SOUND.

There is a lot more to it

with a lot more intracies

than most preachers

would ever try and address

 in a sermon

on a Sunday morning.

Or even take on

the subject matter

at hand

in a bible study

where they would have

a lot more time

to cover the material.

Hope you enjoyed.

Thanks for following allong.

Godspeed.

Journey well friends.
