Large chunks of floating iron

for target practice.

Missle defense systems?

Irrelevant, 

they (Hypersonics) 

are so fast 

we cant even track them.

Stealth?

Irrelevant the heat signature such aircraft give off makes them a perfect target for heat seaking hypersonics. Stealth was designed to avoid enemy radars, it was never meant to avoid heat seaking missles that travel 5x the speed of sound.
