"Interstellar Object 3I/ATLAS Upcoming Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter Opportunity
On October 3, 2025, the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter’s HiRISE camera will observe 3I/ATLAS at 29 million kilometers. The resolution will be 30 kilometers per pixel, giving a stricter upper limit on the nucleus brightness and size than Hubble. This observation could reduce current uncertainties by two orders of magnitude.
(Watch the camera malfunction lol.
Hopefully not.)
It probably got struck
when 3I/ATLAS hit Mars
and thats the reason for the "delay"
in getting the images, and why we are now being told we are waiting on the one from Oct 2nd and not the one from Oct 3rd like we were told all along we would be getting.
Look
thing got hit with a shockwave from a CME.
There hasnt been an updated trajectory
issued publicly since.
Avi Loeb even stated
with a small course correction
the AU could shrink to 0.

"In addition, an orbit correction by 10–15 kilometers per second during the month of September 2025, could shrink the closest approach distance of 3I/ATLAS from Mars to ZERO, as calculated in Figure 4 of my paper with Adam Hibberd and Adam Crowl (accessible here).
So how crazy
is what I am suggesting really?
At this point?
Just give us any data from
the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
