Matthew 17, "Transfiguration Sunday", few other things, Lectionary etc...

"Transfiguration Sunday"

Our Church celebrated it this past Sunday.

First the text:

Matthew 17

17 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

(Right before completion.

Crucifixion, Resurrection and Ascension

are all on the horizon.)

2 And was transfigured before them:

and his face did

shine as the sun

and his raiment was

(Clothing)

 white as the light.

3 And, behold,

there appeared unto them

Moses and Elias talking with him.

("The Law" and "The Prophets"

and now something greater than those two

as well as

the coming the fulfillment of them

was on hand.

Pulpit Commentary

"Here were the representatives of the Law and the prophets, the principal supporters of the old covenant, honouring him who was introducing the new covenant, which was to fulfil and supersede the previous one. Spurious, degraded Judaism rejected Christ's claims; real, orthodox Judaism acknowledged him and reverenced him as the Christ foretold and fort, shadowed, "of whom Moses and the prophets did write" (John 1:45).

4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

("Tabernacles"

Some versions render as

 "tent" or "shelter"

In any event a

"temporary shelter"

is suggested.)

5 While he yet spake,

behold, a bright cloud

overshadowed them

and behold a voice out of the cloud,

which said,

This is my beloved Son,

in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

6 And when the disciples heard it,

they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

7 And Jesus came and touched them,

and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

(Experiencing the Supernatural

first hand

has got a certain way of

"grabbing you by the boo-boo"

to borrow a phrase

by Cheech and Chong.)

8 And when they had lifted up their eyes,

they saw no man, save Jesus only.

9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

(Lots of reasons are offered.

It wasnt his time just yet

and if the disciples

were to blab about it to others

he would have been persecuted for it

seems a reasonable explanation.

But he wanted them to know

without a doubt

who he was.

And by having three witnesses

it would carry a lot more weight

when the time came to tell others

than just having one or two.)

If I heard this preached on 20 different times?

I would probably come away with 20 different things

that "resonated" each time.

This past Sunday,

this is what resonated:

2 And was transfigured before them:

and his face did

shine as the sun

and his raiment

(Clothing)

was white as the light.

And the first thing I thought of was:

James 1:17

Every good gift

and every perfect gift

is from above,

and cometh down

from

the Father of lights

with whom is no variableness,

neither shadow of turning.

God invented light.

First words he ever spoke.

First thing he ever

"manifested"

by speaking it into existence.

Genesis 1:3

And God said,

Let there be light:

and there was light.

And that was the

ENTIRE

electro-magnetic spectrum

of which we only

get to experience 4%

of during our existence

in this earthly realm.

Radio, Microwave, Infrared

Visible

Ultraviolet, X-ray, Gamma.

Seven, go figure right?

Seven different components as well:

Red, orange, yellow,

green, blue, indigo, violet.

Seven Spirits of God:

Isaiah 11:2

2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

If you honestly knew

just how really weird

light is?

Then why in the world

would you not want to meet

its father?

I mean it is just

INSANE

how it behaves

LIGHT, MISSLER, DARWIN, HOVIND, COURTNEYHUNTMD, and

 some others.

Chuck Missler Genesis session 2

"a lot of background

on the mysterious nature of light."

"...the first quote of God is

let there be light

and we also

to this day

light represents

one of the most

paradoxical mysteries

in the field of science."

(Still true today.

What he is trying to tell you is

that is not an accident.)

"and I want you to notice

the description of Eden it's very different

than your Sunday school coloring books"

(My view equates to a different Dimensionality, or different layers of dimensions)

"every precious stone was thy covering the sardius the topaz the diamond the barrel the Onyx The Jasper the sapphire the emerald and the carbuncle and gold this is a classic way of describing colored light to speak in terms of jewels semi-precious Jewels we find it here we find on the breast of the high priest we find it in the New Jerusalem and so forth it occurs frequently we do understand that God is a God of Light we know the that that the angels and also Adam and Eve before they fell were clothed with light."

"...and God said let there be light and there was light this is the first direct quote of God in the Bible it also turns out that light itself even in in the very frontiers of the most advanced science today it still poses astonishing discoveries and and Mysteries"

(That was like 30 years ago
and it is still true today.)

"first direct quote of God let there be light there was light I want to insert here a little side study because I think it's relevant to our understanding to talk a little bit about the nature of light its first direct quote of God all of us have different views of what that really may mean light has a paradoxical nature is does light consist of waves or does light consist of particles."

(Both)

"you're both right
depending on who's looking."

"...it's obvious that the individual particles are not operating individually they're operating organically as a group and that creates a real mystery because on the one hand light can be demonstrated to be a stream of particles it also behaves like waves both and that created all kinds of problems."

"it's quantized
but so is light
it's quantized
so is
everything quantized."

(That is such a great point
and I really don't think
I understood it very well
until last night
but if the light
by which we are able
to see everything we see
is quantized
then everything else
is as well.

quan·tize
/ˈkwänˌtīz/
verb
past tense:
quantized; past participle: quantized

1.
Physics
apply quantum theory to,
especially form into quanta,
in particular
restrict the number
of possible values of (a quantity)
or states of (a system)
so that certain variables
can assume only certain discrete magnitudes.

"light is quantized into packets of energy")

Back to Dr. Missler:

"you know if you take you start studying the attributes of God you can come up with a number of things he's obviously infinite located at infinity or however you want to express that he obviously is capable of infinite power right he represents omnipresence he can be anywhere all the time he also is omniscient he knows everything anyone have a problem with that good okay
it's interesting that
light has properties
analogous to those.

(I always thought the same thing,
long before I ever read this.

Ref:

Wednesday, September 13, 2023

Dr. Missler Again:

"light has no a perfect light has no Parallax it's located at Infinity light has a velocity limit but it's limited by the intrinsic physics of the universe it's also omnipresent it turns out they've also discovered we'll talk about this next time photons lack locality they've discovered that all photons in the universe know what the other photons are doing."

(That right there alone should tell you there is a God.
There is just no way something that weird and crazy
could be the result of some random accident.)

(See:
Double slit experiment

"The double-slit experiment is a foundational quantum mechanics demonstration showing that microscopic objects, like electrons or photons, exhibit both wave-like and particle-like behavior. When particles are fired at two slits, they create an interference pattern on a screen (wave behavior), but when observed or measured, this pattern disappears, and particles act like bullets, forming two clumps."

"...light is the fundamental revelatory mechanism it's the primary way we reveal things because when the light comes on we can see and we can understand and so it it fits the attributes of God it's interesting that in James 1:17 it's every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down
from the Father of Lights
with whom is no variables nor shadow."

Different Source:

"in terms of the menorah, there was a spiritual covering over the first couple’s earthly bodies, a covering or radiance pictured when Moses spoke with Adonai on the mountain, receiving the Torah covenant for Israel. Like the Holy One in whose image they were made, they had corresponding covers of light like garments.” (Dr. Alewine in The Creation Gospel Workbook Four: The Scarlet Harlot and the Crimson Thread, p. 175

Romans 1:20-22

20 For the invisible things of him (Photons) from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise,

they became fools,

Diagram of the eye

by which we experience light:

"To suppose that the eye

with all its inimitable contrivances

for adjusting the focus

to different distances,

for admitting different amounts of light,

and for the correction of

spherical and chromatic aberration,

could have been formed by natural selection,

seems, I confess, absurd in the highest degree..."

~

CHARLES DARWIN.

"SO?

Based solely on the paradoxical

and other attributes of light,

combined with the complexity

of the human eye/sight etc, its

pretty easy to see

(Pun Intended lol)

Thats there's a lil more to

Genesis 1:3

And God said,

“Let there be light,”

and there was light.

Than meets the eye :-).

Sorry.

had too."

Back to the verse that

RESONATED

the most this past Sunday:

2 And was transfigured before them:

and his face did shine as the sun,

and his raiment

(Clothing)

was white as the light.

Also reminded me of:

1 John 3:2

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God,

and it doth not yet appear

what we shall be:

but we know that,

when he shall appear,

we shall be like him;

for we shall see him as he is.

(That is speaking of us being transformed

into a glorified state when he returns,

like him

when he was on the mountain

at transfiguration

but nowhere near

EQUAL

to him.)

 The first time around

only the believers in him

saw him

in his resurrected state

1 Corinthians 15:6

After that

he was seen of above

five hundred

brethren

at once;

of whom the greater part remain

unto this present,

but some are fallen asleep.

Peter lol...

not even going there lol.

Pastor Bridgette did a great job

preaching her sermon

on this subject this past Sunday.

Suffice it to say,

God interrupts Peter lol.

Like

"Shut up,

you are missing the point."

vs 5

While he yet spake

behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them

and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said,

This is my beloved Son,

in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him."

Peter wanted to establish

 a temporary shelter

on the mountain.

Guess what your body is?

Yeah...

a temporary shelter.

Your soul will be made eternal

by the owner of eternity

IF

you would but accept him

and live your life accordingly.

Brother Joe just hammered on this

continually in his bible study on Exodus.

That our bodies were but tents for our souls

during our time in this realm.

(I looked for my notes from that bible study last night but apparently they are buried in about 8 inches thick worth of papers entitled, "Misc Notes" so I decided there was no need to dig through all of that when I already know what he had said and the point I was to share lol.)

"We just happen to wear/inhabit

 a temporary

"meat suit".

(TV show "Supernatural")

Other things that came to mind

during the sermon this past Sunday:

Mary Magdalene when she saw Christ

in the tomb didn't recognize him at first:

John 20:11-18

But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping:

and as she wept, she stooped down,

and looked into the sepulchre,

12 And seeth two angels in white sitting,

the one at the head,

and the other at the feet,

where the body of Jesus had lain.

13 And they say unto her,

Woman, why weepest thou?

She saith unto them,

Because they have taken away my Lord,

and I know not where they have laid him.

14 And when she had thus said,

she turned herself back,

and saw Jesus standing,

and knew not

that it was Jesus.

15 Jesus saith unto her,

Woman, why weepest thou?

whom seekest thou?

She, supposing him

to be the gardener

(Thats a sermon in itself right there

maybe some other day)

saith unto him,

Sir, if thou have borne him hence,

tell me where thou hast laid him,

and I will take him away.

16 Jesus saith unto her,

Mary.

She turned herself, and saith unto him,

Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

(She didnt know who he was

until she heard his voice.)

17 Jesus saith unto her,

Touch me not;

for I am not yet ascended to my Father:

but go to my brethren,

and say unto them,

I ascend unto my Father,

and your Father;

and to my God,

and your God.

18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples

that she had seen the Lord,

and that he had spoken these things unto her.

(Always loved the fact

that she was the first one to see him

after the resurrection.

It says a lot,

perhaps more than most would think

on the surface of it.

Goes right along

with who anointed him etc. etc. etc.)

So there was that thought going on

in my head during the sermon Sunday

as well as:

2 Peter 1:16-18

For we followed not deceivable fables, when we opened unto you the power, and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,

but with our eyes

we saw his majesty:

17 For he received of God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to him from that excellent Glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

18 And this voice

we heard when it came from heaven

being with him in the holy mount.

If you experience

the supernatural presence

of God?

UPCLOSE AND PERSOANL
FIRST HAND?

You will never be able to deny it.

Ever.

You will gladly

go to your death

singing his praises

KNOWING

something greater than us

in this realm

EXIST

for you/us

for all eternity.

And I just can not understand

WHY

all the hostility toward

"the father of lights"

and the inventor/designer

of the Quantum world.

Me personally?

I just cant wait to meet him.

And?

Here we go again with

PROBLEMS WITH

THE LECTIONARY

lol.

This one I can kind of understand

more so than I can the past issues

I have had with it

as there are two very

distinct trains of thought

going on from

the Transfiguration

to what follows right behind it.

But it's something

that people just don't know

or don't think about,

or don't preach about

and personally?

I THINK THEY SHOULD BE

we are that close.

Just a lil reminder

of where we were when we left off:

9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”

Now with what needs be explained,

preached on

in a lot greater detail today:

10 The disciples asked him,

“Why then do the teachers of the law say

that Elijah must come first?”

11 Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. 12 But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.

John the Baptist

had already been martyred

when he said it,

so what on earth is he talking about?

Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers

(11) Elias truly shall first come.—Better, cometh Our Lord’s words are obviously enigmatic in their form, and, as such, admit of two very different interpretations. Taken literally, as they have been by very many both in earlier and later times, they seem to say that Elijah shall come in person before the yet future day of the Lord, the great second Advent of the Christ. So it has been argued the prophecy of Malachi 4:5 shall yet have a literal fulfilment, and John the Baptist when he confessed that he was not Elijah (John 1:21) was rightly expecting his appearance.

Malachi 4:5

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet

before the coming

of the great and dreadful day

of the Lord:

Mathew Henry

commentary on Joel 2

Those on whom

the Spirit is poured out

shall foresee and foretell

that great and terrible day of the Lord,

and expound the wonders in heaven

and earth that go before it

(September 23rd, 2017?

First time the stars had aligned like that in 3000 years.

Revelation 12:1-6

The Woman and the Dragon

"A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun,

with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.

She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth."

About is the key word there.

Christ new church is almost born.

Satan knows it.

His days are over.)

"for, as to his first coming,

so to his second,

all the prophets did

and do bear witness,

(There will be another JTB

wild man from the wilderness

yelling and screaming

at people to get ready.

Sound the least bit familiar?)

He then references Revelation 10:7

“But in the days when the seventh angel

is about to sound his trumpet,

the mystery of God will be accomplished,

just as he announced

to his servants the prophets.”)

It would hardly be right to reject this interpretation merely on the ground of its literalism, or its improbability, or the resemblance which it has to the fantastic belief and practices, which have kept their ground even in modern Judaism, in connection with the expected appearance of the Tishbite, though these, so far as they go, must be thrown into the adverse scale. The words that follow in the next verse are, however, more decisive.

And restore all things.—Better, and shall restore. Leaving for the present the question who was to do the work, we turn to the nature of the work itself. Our Lord’s language generalises the description given by Malachi. That work of “turning the hearts of the children to the fathers, and the hearts of the fathers to the children,”

was but part

of a wider

restoration of things and persons.

Old truths were to be reproclaimed,

(Genesis 6 anybody?)

and cleared from

the after-growths of traditions.

("And restore all things"

Pertains

MAINLY

to the Bride of Christ

The Church that will meet him

upon his return

without blemish etc.

I want somebody)

Men, as a race, were to be brought into their right relation to their God and Father. The words seem—at least as interpreted by Acts 3:21 (where see Note); Romans 8:21; Ephesians 1:22-23; 1Corinthians 15:28, and other like passages—to point forward to a “restitution of all things,”

the bringing in of order

where now there is

disorder and confusion,

(Oh you mean like now?

Gotcha.)

which shall embrace

not Israel only,

or even mankind,

but the whole universe of God,

visible and invisible.

Christ restores his church

for himself

to be ready for him

on his return

Ephesians 5:26-27

 That he might

sanctify

and

cleanse it

with the washing of water

by the word,

27 That he might

present it to himself

a glorious church,

not having spot,

or wrinkle,

or any such thing;

but that it should be holy

and without blemish.

The rest of the restoration

back to the original state intended

as in the Garden

doesn't happen until after

the White Throne judgement

and the New Heaven,

New Earth, New Jerusalem

descend from Heaven.

(See verse above:

She, supposing

him to be the gardener

(Thats a sermon in itself right there

maybe some other day)

REVELATION 21

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth:

for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away;

and there was no more sea.

2 And I John saw the holy city,

new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven,

prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

7 He that overcometh

shall inherit all things;

and I will be his God,

and he shall be my son.

So yeah...most people

just hear a twenty minute sermon

but my brain is like

the afterburners have been turned on...

I literally can not write down fast enough

what I am thinking about sometimes.
