Paisios of Mount Athos

Saint Paisios of Mount Athos (Greek: Ἅγιος Παΐσιος ὁ Ἁγιορείτης, pronounced [ˈa.ʝi.os paˈi.si.os o a.ʝi.oˈɾi.tis]; secular name: Arsenios Eznepides (Greek: Ἀρσένιος Ἐζνεπίδης), known during his lifetime as Elder Paisios (Greek: Γέροντας Παΐσιος); 

7 August [O.S. 25 July] 1924 – 12 July 1994) 

was a Greek Eastern Orthodox ascetic from Mount Athos, 

originally from Pharasa, Cappadocia. Today, he is widely venerated by Eastern Orthodox Christians, particularly in Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Russia, North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro and Syria.

Paisios was canonized on 13 January 2015 by the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate,[3] and the church commemorates his feast day on June 29 [OS] / July 12 [NS].[5][6]

Early life

Arsenios Eznepides was born on 7 August 1924 in Pharasa (Çamlıca), Cappadocia, shortly before the population exchange between Greece and Turkey. He was baptized by Arsenios the Cappadocian, who gave him the name Arsenios after himself and is said to have foretold the child's future as a monastic. Following the population exchange, the Eznepides family settled in Konitsa, Epirus, where Arsenios spent his childhood. After completing intermediate public school, he learned carpentry and developed an interest in Byzantine chant under the guidance of his uncle, Prodromos.

So born 40 years before me

in 1924 and passed away 

some 33 years ago.

Very difficult times are ahead for the faithful. Great trials await us. Christians will suffer great persecutions. 

Meanwhile, it's obvious that people don't understand that we're on the verge of the end times, that the seal of the Antichrist is becoming a reality. As if nothing's happening. That's why Holy Scripture says that even the chosen will be deceived.

Going as part of a "cattle call' for the express purpose of getting your own picture in the papers? Or on social media? Kind of a problem, a big one. If your "Evangelical Leader" doesn't know any better than what's pictured above? Ditch em. Quick like in a hurry.

(Like I said we differ on some of the particulars (rebuilt temple) but above in red is what I found interesting. I was telling honey the other day that even when I was much younger I understood the strategic military importance of the Golan Heights for Israel, now at this stage of my life I see it wasn't all about the military significance of it but the importance of it being a demonic stronghold as well. 

And that area is what 

Syria and Israel 

are currently negotiating over

in their discussions of a "security agreement"
