Been

waiting since 1989?

Maybe?

Something like that.

Love this guy's music.

Dwight Yoakam

Gives credit to college radio

in the late 80 for giving him his start.

They put out a 6 song EP by themselves.

Got some college radio air play,

got signed to Warner Brothers...

And the rest as they say :-).

He is from Eastern KY.

Pikesville.

My Dad's family is from

Harlan County.

Literally 90 miles up the road.

My great uncle was a medic during "Bloody Harlan"

during the strikes at the coal mines etc.

He sings about things and places

that I can relate to

as we would always go visit my

Great aunt and uncle every summer.

Always have a soft spot in my heart

for the people in Eastern KY,

Appalachia etc.

A good friend of mine told me once that I must have been black in another lifetime, I said I don't think so, but I can relate to persecuted peoples, as I know what my grandfather and uncle and others went through back in the day.

But songs like:

Bury me (along the Big Sandy), Miners prayer,

Readin', Rightin', Rt. 23 just resonate with me.

My aunts family lived in Ashland.

I don't just hear his music,

I feel it,

its in my bones.

And like his music or hate it?

He is authentic, 100%,

he don't try and be anything he aint.

What you see and hear

is what you get.

Humility was displayed by someone

knowing their heyday was a lil bit ago

(and thats not always the case)

but he was very appreciative and thankful

for his faithful to still be showing up to see him perform.

Goods story teller as well.

Like the band, The guitar player in particular.

Great evening :-).

Highlights Included:

Streets of Bakersfield, I'll be gone

Honky tonk man, Guitars Cadillacs, Million miles from nowhere,  Little sister

Suspicious minds, Little ways, Please please baby.

The fact that the ticket said:

Heaven on earth

is coming to two people.

Real soon.

Revelation 1:3

(Ears gotta hear whats being said.

Not everybody has ears that hear.)

the words of this prophecy

and keep those things which are written therein

for the time is at hand.
