Hebrews 2:14
14 Now since the children share in blood and flesh,
he likewise shared in them,
that through death he might
destroy the one
who has the power of death,
that is, the devil,
Somewhere in my readings here recently
someone was trying to suggest
that Satan has the power of death and they cited that verse above.
Don't get it confused.
God almighty alone
has the power over life and death.
Revelation 1:18
18 I am he that liveth,
and was dead; and, behold,
I am alive for evermore, Amen;
and have the keys of hell and of death.
Matthew 10:28
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather
fear him which is able to destroy
both soul and body in hell.
(That aint Satan, that's his creator.)
Romans 6:4
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as
Christ was raised up from the dead
by the glory of the Father,
even so we also should walk in newness of life.
The "death" that Satan has
the power over
is sin.
Ephesians 2:1
And you hath he quickened,
who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Ephesians 2:5
Even when we were dead in sins,
hath quickened us together with Christ,
(by grace ye are saved;).
John 10:18
No man taketh it from me,
(Life)
but I lay it down of myself.
I have power to lay it down,
and I have power to take it again.
This commandment have I received of my Father.
(One owner of the life force
and it is not a created being, Satan)
Luke 15:24
For this my son was dead,
and is alive again;
he was lost, and is found.
And they began to be merry.
(Prodigal son,
when he came home.)
Tons of other verses as well.
Satan can not do anything
unless God allows it.
Thats how great your God is
that his accuser
has to ask him permission
to be able to do anything.
Crazy to me how many people I have met in my life who believe in there being a Satan, but flat out deny the one that created him.
Sad really...
