This

is what jumped out at me

at the Lenten Lunch

we hosted at our church Yesterday.

Matthew 21:42-44

42 Jesus said to them,

“Did you never read in the scriptures:

The stone that the builders rejected

    has become the cornerstone;

by the Lord

has this been done,

and it is wonderful in our eyes’?

43 [b]Therefore, I say to you,

the kingdom of God

will be taken away from you

and given to a people

that will produce its fruit.

44 [[c] The one who falls on this stone will be dashed to pieces; and it will crush anyone on whom it falls.]”

And if you don't think,

that applies to us still today?

And to only them back then?

I THINK THAT IS A GROSS MISTAKE.

IT MOST ASSUREDLY

still applies to us today.

Numbers 14:11-12

11 And the Lord said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?

12 I will smite them

with the pestilence,

and disinherit them

and will make of thee

a greater nation

and mightier than they.

God would just think about

doing that to them then?

(He didn't, he got started

and relented, go read the story :-).

And not us now?

I just cant follow that logic.

When more than all the souls

won over

during the two Great Awakenings

and

the Billy Graham crusades

combined

have left the church?

WHERE IS THE FRUIT?

Matthew 7:16-20

16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.

19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit

is cut down and thrown into the fire.

20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Think about it for a second.

Also reminded me of:

Matthew 7:21-23

I Never Knew You

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord,

did we not

(Opps, dont make it about you,

or anything you did.)

prophesy in your name,

and cast out demons in your name,

and do many mighty works in your name?’

23 And then will I declare to them,

‘I never knew you;

depart from me,

you workers of lawlessness.’

(Cause they weren't doing

what he wanted them to do,

and instead

were doing what they wanted to do.)

and also reminds me of:

Matthew 25:11-12

11 “Later the others also came.

‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’

12 “But he replied,

‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’

Moving on to other notes from the event.

"One who trust will not panic."

"Religious leaders

are the builders of the faith."

"They dismissed him

(might as well have said "them".)

as he didn't fit it

with what they had expected."

(RESONATED)

"He taught in a different way."

(RESONATED

and by now I am going:

Does he know how this correlates

with two people sitting right here? :-)

"Does everybody around you know?

WHAT

is the foundation

you are building your life on?"

Lord I sure hope so.
