Election post-mortem.

Oh boy lol.
Get the good times roll.
So much things to say indeed.

Here we go.

Democrats.
No other political party in history could have pulled this off. We're looking for a slam dunk here. It's the last thirty seconds of a fifteen round heavyweight title fight. You're drawing back ya got him on the ropes you're gonna knock him out of the ring and into the crowd and be done with this menace forever. You're lookin at the Presidency, the Senate, Progressive Supreme Court Appointments and winning over the largest generation in our nation's history for the next thirty-five, forty years worth of elections. Instead? When you missed? Ya spun around and got your own self knocked the fuck out. Ya pulled an 0-4. O-fer. Ya fucking pulled an O-fer. Like I said, no other political party in history could have pulled this off. Fuck the guy packing 35-40 thousand people into arenas and stadiums with positions on trade that would have held, Pennsylvania and Michigan (Bernie won it's Primary remember?) at a minimum. We want the person with the lowest trustworthy and favorability ratings in our party's history. Oh, and she happens to be under an FBI investigation? Yippie! We don't care. She's who we want! What kinda party looses governorship's while occupying the White House for eight years? What kind of leadership is that? The DNC was entirely inept under Debbie Wassermann Schultz. It's being purged at the moment with progressive replacements coming in. Good. Four years late, but you know? Who's counting? Fuck the democratic party. It's why I'm really not upset about this election. Ya got what ya deserved. Why even let the possibility of this ever happening come into play? As soon as I can? I'm registering as an Independent. If this is how you run your organization? Why on earth do you think you deserve to run the country? Go back to being New Deal Democrats. The American people deserve a new "New Deal" and it's time.

Indeed.

Was anyway :-).

Republicans
Y'all got nothing to be proud of either. You lost your identity as a party in this mess. Both parties orthodoxy was just torn to shreds, that's the story of this election to me. But seriously? How long do you think you're going to continue to win elections with a minority of votes? Probably not many more election cycles. Twice in the last twenty eight years you've managed to win the presidency by popular vote. Twice in the last twenty eight years! You had to gerrymander the house years ago to retain control. (Republicans Win Congress as Democrats Get Most Votes). You've managed to do the same thing at the state level. (These 3 maps show just how dominant Republicans are in America after Tuesday).  Not quite the O-fer the Dems pulled but getting pretty damn close. Look at what all you had to do to win this election: Get big name celebrity to run, check, Gut Voting Rights Act, check, Purge voting roles, check, Institute draconian voter ID law's in swing states, check, Close early voting stations in same, check. And you still managed to loose the popular vote! Ya pulled out all the stops on this one. You knew you had to.

I walked into the lil store where I used to be a cook. It was the day after the election and the usual crowd was there. The 12 or so older white men with grey hair were enjoying their moment. To be honest? I was happy for them. Then, as I went to check out, I was waited on by quite possibly four immigrants. Walking to the truck I couldn't help but think... How many of the white haired old men are gonna be around for the next election, or the one after that?...then I thought, how many children will the four people behind the counter have in the next four or eight years? It was like I was hearing the last great collective sigh of relief from white rural America. That's exactly what it felt like walking out of there that day.

A microcosm of the demographic trends sweeping our country while getting my biscuits and gravy Lucy.

Sweet :-).

Love you Dollbaby.
