Yesterday

Got up. Piddled around the house.
Visited Christian, Hailey and the boys for a while.
Mom text and wanted to know if I wanted to ride out to the cemetery where her grandfather and grandmother were laid to rest.
Sure thing.
So we rode out there.
Showed her Fawn and Jason's home as it wasn't to far down the road.
Then showed her my buddy Marks house as well.
Came back.
Chilled for a couple of hours then went to my uncles for the fish fry.
It was all really good.
Bass, bluegill, catfish, moms hush puppies, cole slaw, mac and chz, baked beans and blackberry cobbler for desert.
I told Nicholas before we left: "I wanna go get stuffed with good food, hang out for a bit and then come home and crash.
That is exactly what I did.
Laid down at 7:30.
Woke up a lil after 5 but just stayed in bed till about 9:30.
To bad you weren't there lol.

It's cool here today.
Cold front came through.
I don't think it rained like it was supposed to cause i sure didn't hear anything.
But it is way cooler than yesterday.
Dinner at moms.
Then back over here chillin.
I'm sure I'll go visit the boys (and Christian and Hailey) sometime.
They make me smile and laugh :-).
I'd like to think I do the same.:-).

Love you.
Tired of waking up without you sweetheart.

Time to go drink my coffee on my porch.
French press of course :-).

Peace.

So...

I have been informed that I should invest in some newer "quality of life items"
such as:

New towels lol.
It's not even worth going into or trying to explain here in this forum..
I'm sure he has told you.
We've discussed towles and the need for them in this forum before.
Movin on lol.
New lofwas.
(Whatever lol that damn spongee thing you put liquid soap on)
A new brush.
"Why a brush?"
"I need one with finer teeth."
Oh.
Okay.
How the hell I am supposed to know?
"New wash cloths."
"There's two red ones haven't been used hardly at all."
"Oh."
"Why did you wait till I haven't worked in a month to tell me this?
Why didn't you tell me when I working."
I can't even remember his explanation lol.
Not even worth tryin to.

I was also told yesterday lol...

that I should have Uncle Fred show me how to bush hog a field :-).
"Cause he's been doing it forever so you should have him show you."
"I don't need to bush hog anything why bother?"
"Well you wanted to learn how to use the zero radius mower."
"That was fun.
Bush hogging is work.
All kinds of people been killed doing it."
Blank stare back.
then with the biggest shit eatin grin I could muster...

"I'll learn how when I have too."

:-).

But anyway...

Isn't all of the above...

Visited

dad's and Janet's mom (My grandmother, Nicholas Great grandma) Janet's Dad's and my grandparents (Dads side) and uncle Bobby graves when I visited with Janet last week.
I know where they are now.
I can find them.
Visited my grandparents graves on my moms side when I went went to Oboro with mom a few weeks ago. Glad I did.
Nice to have the pictures to reference the dates as well.

Albert and Artie, Dad's mom and dad.
Papa would take me and my cousins, Timmy and Scottie to the KY state fair every year.
He would just buy us a big wad of tickets and turn us loose and let us ride whatever we wanted :-).
Good times.
Remember wrestling around in the back of my aunts car to The Doobie Brothers "Black water" (when it was actually on the charts lol, not some oldies station) on AM radio (No FM just yet) on the way to his house one time lol.
No seat belts.
I'm not old, I'm vintage somebody once said.

Uncle Bobby.
He and my aunt Barbara had just moved to Mt. Washington.
L&N (Louisville and Nashville railroad) was relocating and cutting jobs.
He was let go.
Not very much later he had a heart attack mowing the yard and passed away.
Two small boys :-(.
So sad.
They ended up in Lexington and after my aunt retired she moved there to be closer to them.
Everybody agreed it was the loosing the job and not the heart attack that did it.
No history of heart disease in the family before or after him.
It was the fall of my freshman year at WKU.
Just hit me like a ton of bricks.
So young, so unexpected, just a shock.
Bobby was really funny :-).
He could really make you laugh.
It's just not a phone call you expect your first or second week away at school for the first time.
After dad told me what had happened I don't think I heard anything else he said.
Just sat there in silence.
I was a pallbearer at his funeral.
Life is precious indeed.

Dad.
So much like him it's ridiculous.
Nicholas as well.
I think he would be proud :-).
Passed away when Nicholas was 14 months old.
He was a mailman.
He and Janet lived on his route.
Same house where Janet still lives.
Sometimes if I wanted to see him?
I knew about where he would be on his route on any given part of the day so I would just go find him and walk with him for a bit.
Loved watchin NFL with him.
We agreed on a lot.
Forth down?
Close to the 50 yard line on your or your opponent's side?
Go for it.
Field goal?
Fuck a bunch of field goals.
Only if you are to far away from the goal line to try and score.
I played JV football.
Games were on Thursday afternoons.
He would always ask: "Where do you play this week?"
I'd tell him and he would say: "Well if I can make it I'll be there but I can't promise."
Every time.
Every time.
He was always there.
Every time.
I would be coming off the field after kickoff coverage or our first offensive possession and I would kinda be looking for him in his mailman uniform along the fence somewhere...and every time there would eventually be his voice: "Hey bud."
I would just light up :-).
He was a very "You gotta do what you gotta do" kinda guy.
He didn't ever wanna tell anybody how they should live their lives.
He expected the favor to be returned.
Sound familiar?
"The moral majority is neither" was one of his favs :-).

He went to the hospital with jaundice.
A week later he left us.
A week :-(.
Just like that.
Pancreatic cancer.
I wish I could have had more time with him.

Janet's parents.
Sam was a very quiet man never really said much.
I ended up with his single bolt action 22 and his double barrel shotgun from Janet.
I'm honored to have them.
Once Janet and her mom had bought some pots for some plants.
One of them was made out of terra cotta.
It had a tag explaining how and why it was so good for growing plants inside of it.
I mean it was a long explanation just going on and on.
Janet or Ma one was reading it.
We were all just sitting on the porch.
When she got done, Pa Gehring, with the straightest face you could ever imagine said:
"They make sewer pipe out of it too."
We all just about died lol.
He just sat there like "Whats so funny?"

Alma :-).
Old school German woman big time.
As in "Spreckens sie deutsch?"
When I was young she would get the order of verbs and nouns mixed up on occasion.
I would be like "I know what you're saying but I never heard anybody ever say it like that before."

Woman could flat out cook now.

I had a beer can collection when I was in middle school?
High school?
It was a big fad.
Anyway I wanted a Fosters beer can (oil can).

Couldn't ever find one but they sold it in the stores.
This is like late 70's early 80's nobody ever even heard of Fosters then.
Nobody in our families drank beer.
Amazed they even let me have a beer can collection.
Ma said she would drink it if dad would buy it.
So she did.
I was like ain't that something?
The oldest woman in this family is the one to drink that big can of beer?
Must have been the German coming out I suppose.
"It was good too" she said lol.

Sunday dinners.
Good lord did I have some manners to learn when we started eating at Ma and Pa's house on Sundays.
There was a serving cart with all the food on it.
It was up front close to the table where Pa sat (at the head).
Blessing was said.
Ma would stand and give all the dishes to Pa first.
Everything was passed in a clockwise manner till everybody had what they wanted.
If you weren't sure?
Take just a taste to see if you like or not.
Bread goes on the bread plate.
Butter?
Take what you think you will need and put it on the side of the bread plate so you won't have to ask someone to pass it to you later.
(Helps keep the bread out of the butter as well)
No one started eating till Pa started.
It's was out of respect.
His house.
His food that he bought to share with everyone.
Dishes were passed again for seconds.
Ma standing and doing the passing again.
Ask, before you just take the last of any item.
Somebody else may want some.
If so?
Then you split whats left.
No body is done till Pa is done.
When he is done?
Plates cleared.
Desert and coffee brought out.
Desert servings were passed to everyone.
Again, no one starts till Pa starts.
I mean here I am 15?16? years old with all this goodness in front of me and I gotta wait?
Oh you would have thought it was gonna kill me lol.
When everyone is finished and the plates are cleared?
You're expected to stay for a while and engage in conversation.
If you're ready to leave after a bit?
"May I be excused."
That's just how it was.

I lived with Ma for a while after I graduated from Western.
Strong, strong old school german woman.
"Great grandma" Nicholas called her.
Miss her too.
(My lil shrine to ma)

Old school.
Period.
Know why Bambi?
Cause that shit still works.

Love you Virgie.

So

I go to air up the flat tire on The Buick with the air compressor in the garage and it seems like it's taking a lil longer than it should.
Seems like.
Don't really know.
Not real sure how long it should take but it seems like given how long the compressor has been running that the tire should have more air in it than it does.
Finally I give.
It's not getting any more aired up than what it is.
Seems like there is enough air in it to get me a few miles down the road, lets give it a shot, if it starts handling funny?
Or seems like it's not gonna make it to the tire shop?
Well then turn around come back home and go from there.
I wasn't a half mile down the road, yep, that's not gonna work, turn around and come home.
When I got home?
Thing was as flat as it was before I tried to put air in it.
Well...

shit.
Okay, lets play the change a tire for the first time in over 25 years game.
I hate it.
These days every vehicle has it's own jack and it's own place to put it and it's own way to be used and these doughnuts for spares aren't worth a shit.
There ought to be a law, if you buy a brand new vehicle?
It comes with a full size spare.
Period.
They only started doing that to save a penny, cheap bastards.
Anyway, back when my dad showed me how to change a tire?
Spares were full sized and all the jacks in all the vehicles looked and operated the same exact way.
Not any more.
We managed lol.
We got out the instructions, followed along and did just fine.
Drove it down to the tire place where they said it was the valve stem that had gone bad.
Well...that would explain why it wasn't holding any more air than it was lol.

Now just need to get the bike over to Josh and have him look at that running light for me.
Only a 60% chance of rain the next three or four days, go figure lol.

For a moment today?
We were very very ghetto :-).

Off

to fiddle fart around with vehicles.

Yesterday?
Was a really really good day :-).

Marianne Williamson

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Morning

beautiful.

Went to take Nich over to moms yesterday and there was a flat tire on the Buick.
Get to air it up and go to the tire store today.
Happy happy joy joy lol.
And there is a running light out on the bike.
Get to take care of that as well :-).

So wats on your agenda today?

Let me guess.

Being awesome?
Of course it's on your agenda.
How could it not be?

Love ya Dingleberry.

We gonna

go ahead and call it a day Lucy.

Love you.
Night.

Good

day Lucy.

In bed at 10:30 last PM.
Up, fix breakfast, take Nich to school.
Come home.
Back down till 9:30.
Woke up and felt as good as I have in a while.
Got laundry in the dryer.
(Looked like rain or I would have put it on the clothesline)
Did dishes.
Made coffee.
Sat on my porch.
Lil colt got out of the pasture and into my yard lol.

Called Christian and let him, actually let Halie, get him back in the pasture.
Fiddle farted around with Christian and all of his clan till he had the fence repaired good enough to prevent the colt from getting out any more.
At least for a while lol.
Went to bank.
Filled up the Buick.
Came home.
Checked mail.
Got my last check :-).
Back to the bank lol.
Go fill up the truck.

Went up to the Career Center and borrowed their heavy duty stapler to put my "Shame on Century"sign in the yard.
Want to work a man 16 hours a day 7 days a week.
"Century" seems right.
They need to learn which one we are living in.
Busloads of scabs being trucked back and forth to work from Owensboro with State Trooper escorts.
Fuckin scum of the earth if you ask me.
Or even if you don't.
Take a mans job temporarily.
Go do something else muck dwellers.
Put two of my buddies out of work.
Fuck 'em.
Inevitable is coming sooner or later anyway.
Go down swinging is wat I say.
No shame in that.
Honorable way to go if you ask me.

Talked to Janet.
She is just about over her bronchitis.
Going to visit her Thursday and Friday.
Wanna visit dad and mamaw and papa's grave sites.
Wanna be able to find them on own.
I could probably find dads.
No clue about mamaw and papa's (Dads side of the family).

Talked to Dave for about an hour.
Got an adventure lined up for us lol.
Wed mid morning were gonna load up his zero turn radius mower and bring it over here to mow the yard lol.
It's gonna take us about 20 minutes to do.
Take us longer to load it up and transport it back and forth than it will to mow lol.
Oh well.
It will be an adventure :-).
Plus I will get to learn how to use it.
Never used one before.
I'll probably get some charcoal going before we start mowing.
Cook us some lunch when we are done.
Nich said if we got grandpas weed eater he would help with the weed eating Wed PM.
Didn't even have to ask him.
That's a lot more like it :-).
Love that kinda shit :-).

Got Nich from school.
Got milk and cereal from the Dollar Store.
Went and visited mom and Al for a few minutes.
Fried up pork cutlets for diner.
Did it outside using the side burner on the grill.
Pretty good.
Nich said he would have them again.
Cleaned up.
Sat on porch for a bit.
Long bath :-).
Something I never used to have the luxury of having.
Felt great.
Getting ready to go sit out there some more here in a minute.

Got to go to bed early tonight.
Work the polls tomorrow.
(No phones allowed and I won't be around a computer.)
Easy money, sit around and read I suppose.
County clerk expects about 4% turnout.
So sad.
Anyway, got to get up at 4 AM to be there by 5.
Long day.
Then mow with Dave on Wed and go visit Janet on Thursday and Friday.
Weeks planned out.

We're all stocked up on groceries.
All vehicles have had oil changes.
Stocked up on food.
Ready to roll sweetheart :-).
Love you :-).
