Brother Joes

Sermon series on fruits of the spirit continued with sermon #8.

"Faithfulness."

Your actions will show you belong to the truth.

1st Corinthians 4:1-2

The Nature of True Apostleship
This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.

Revelation 2:10

Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.

Faithfulness is God's focus.
God puts faithfulness before ability or talent.
God gives power, ability, wisdom, knowledge etc to his faithful.
God is looking for his faithful.

The original Greek word for faithfulness has three meanings all which apply.

1) Be persuaded.
2) Obey
3) Continue

Deuteronomy 7:9

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

Proverbs 25:13

Like a snow-cooled drink at harvest time
    is a trustworthy messenger (faithful) to the one who sends him;
he refreshes the spirit of his master.

So yeah.
Things have kinda hit me pretty hard today.
Wait till I tell you in DM about the conversation with Brother Joe that preceded the service.
Things will make even more sense.

I told Brother Joe afterwards I needed to hear what he spoke.
He had a serious look on his face like:
"Good."
We shook hands and went on about our Sunday.
