Matthew 25:14-30

Matthew 25:14-30

This whole series of sermons is about Kingdom people.
It's the whole point of the series.

Verses 29-30.

For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance.
Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.
And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness,
where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Help drive this home.

Bro Joe's Points:

1)
The master "entrusted " his property. He made his servants stewards to take care of God's property.
Just like we are stewards of God's gifts. We are to return to God what was entrusted to us, our "special gift" as it were, with interest according to our own unique abilities.

2)
Workers were entrusted to their ability as such they were to return to God in like manner. 1 denarius in those days was a days wages. One talent was 1000 denarius. So five denarius was 5000 days wages. Workers were expected to return according to their ability as that is how thewy were given.

3)
Faithfulness and loyality were what was demanded, not money back with interest. The first and second servants were given the same accolades even though they returnded different amounts. It's all about working hard and being fasithful and loyal with what was given, not about returns.

The worthless servant was lazy, wicked.
He didn't try to do any better with what he was given.
