I

love Mark Shields.

Mark Shields

We watch PBS newshour a lot and look forward to hearing him and David brooks on Fridays.

But Mr Shields said something interesting the other day.
He asked:

"Does your politics influence your religion?
Or does your religion influence your politics?"

“Get even with people,”
“If they screw you, screw them 10 times as hard.”

"Donald Trump propounds a different creed.
Four years before he declared his candidacy for president,
he explained this philosophy at a Miss Universe event in Sydney, Australia.
“Get even with people,”
Trump said then.
“If they screw you, screw them 10 times as hard.”

Our Biblically Illiterate, Historically Obtuse President

Acts 4:32-34

The Believers Share Their Possessions

"All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales."

John 13:34

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."

Matthew 22:35-40

"One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

So I ask you.

"Does your politics influence your religion?
Or does your religion influence your politics?"

I  know which way mine goes.
Hows yours going these days?
