Ezekiel 37 Commentary (a running post)

So?
Here we have a vision concerning a resurrection from death to life.
How common is that in nature?
It's contrary to the very natural laws that exist right?
There is no return from death right?
How is it possible?
There is only one way that it's possible, and this was the whole point of Brother Joe's sermon Sunday, the only way it's possible?
By the word of the Lord God Almighty.

Many have used this vision to say that by God's word, there will be a "general resurrection".
Otherwise, 'it's not any more of a sign confirming their faith to be delivered out of Babylon, than it is a sign confirming one's faith in the coming of a messiah to deliverer them."
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
Are you with me here?
How can you understand this as not a sign of a general resurrection, but believe in other signs of the coming of the Messiah right?

But, whether it is a sign of a general resurrection or not, there are three layers by which the resurrection of the dead bones could be understood to represent, besides that which it is primarily intended to be the sign of which would be the hope of Israel to be reunited and returned home.

(This is why I love prophets and Biblical prophecy so much, there are so many layers of meaning and the prophet being used isn't even conscious of the fact that he is delivering all of them, he's just saying what God tells him to, let them sort it all out later I suppose Lucy :-).

The first layer here would be the resurrection of souls from a life of death in sin, to a life of righteousness, to a holy, heavenly, spiritual, and divine life, by the power of divine grace going along with the word of Christ. I mean if you talk about "resurrection" and the Bible, everybody just automatically jumps to Jesus resurrection right? We just don't think about this kind of resurrection right? Yet we see it in people when they convert all the time.

John 5:24-25
“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. 25 Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.

Another type of resurrection would be the  of the Church during the end times, from an afflicted and persecuted state, to liberty and peace. Again, we just don't normally think of resurrection along these terms. Resurrected Church? Who ever heard of such a thing.

Joel 2
23 Be glad then, you children of Zion, And rejoice in the Lord your God;
For He has given you the former rain faithfully,
And He will cause the rain to come down for you--
The former rain, And the latter rain (Holy spirit in the end times) in the first month.
24 The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, (During these times the righteous shall be separated from the wicked, like wheat from the chaff)
And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil

Joel 2
28. "And it shall come to pass afterward  (In the end times) that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.
29. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. (Men and women, in those days = End times.)

Joel 2
30. "And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.
31. The sun shall be turned into darkness (Happened this summer), and the moon into blood (Happened just a lil while ago), before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. (End times).

1 Corinthians 14:26
How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

And Lastly?
The resurrection of the body into something new. Especially the body of the believers that shall rise to life eternal.

1 Corinthians 15:42-44
So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.
