Well shock of shocks...

US confronts China over company ties to Russia’s war

How dare somebody else think they can make a buck off of war!

We have to stop this!

They're encroaching on our territory honey!

"The Biden administration has confronted China’s government with evidence suggesting some Chinese state-owned companies may be providing assistance for Russia’s war on Ukraine, as it tries to determine if Beijing is aware of that happening, people familiar with the matter said."

(Are you kidding me?

Much?)

"The people, who asked not to be identified, did not detail the support except to say it consists of non-lethal military and economic assistance that stops short of wholesale evasion of the sanctions regime the US and its allies imposed after Russian forces attacked Ukraine last February 24."

"The trend is worrying enough that US officials have raised the matter with their Chinese counterparts and warned about the implications of supplying material support for the war, the people said, without providing details."

("US officials have raised the matter with their Chinese counterparts'. I understand we have to do so, but come on, like any of that is gonna matter right now...)

"About 30 countries have imposed sanctions on Russia, and China is one of several key nations, including India, South Africa, Mexico, Israel and the United Arab Emirates, that don’t support NATO sanctions. The world’s most populous country has increased trade with Russia significantly as sanctions restricted Russia’s trade with many European countries."

(This isn't us and the rest of the world against somebody like it used to be. This is US and a relative handful of countries supporting NATO sanctions. I tell ya who else doesn't support sanctions:

Saudi Arabia,

Iran,

Brazil,

South Africa...

Countries That Have Sanctioned Russia

"The countries that have sanctioned Russia over Ukraine represent only 16 percent of the world’s population."

President Biden and other Western leaders have said over and over again that we’ve “rallied the world” to oppose Russia for its unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. Unfortunately, that’s not yet the case. In fact, we’re in the minority. According to analysis by the Economist’s Intelligence Unit, fully two-thirds of the world’s population live in countries where the government has declined to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, either by adopting a position of neutrality or actually opposing expressions of condemnation."

The rest of the world is hearing a very different narrative of this conflict and how it is proceeding...and a lot of them are staying neutral until seeing how things shake out and then proceed from there...)

"A US National Security Council spokeswoman declined to comment, as did the CIA. There was no immediate comment from China’s embassy in Washington."

(This is big and its not good and the fact that these spokespeople arent saying anything tells you so.)

"The administration is reviewing the evidence it has accumulated to determine its significance. A finding that Chinese companies were supporting the invasion would have troubling implications on US policy toward both Russia and China."

(Maybe that's part of the reason they are? Other countries are seeing the time we are living in as their oppurtunity to make a move and they are.)

"The US strategy over Ukraine rests in part on isolating Mr Putin’s government and seeking to choke off his economy and hinder the war effort. Increased support from China, the world’s No. 2 economy, could significantly undercut that strategy."

(It was never going to work from the start...

)

"And if Mr Biden and his advisers determined China’s government was involved in, or tacitly accepted, the actions of those state-owned enterprises, they would be forced to decide how much to push back."

(Exactly what are you gonna tell the people that make your cheap crap, pharmaceuticals etc?)

Pretty hard to be neutral

"Russia and China declared a “no limits” relationship before the war and US officials believe Beijing initially intended to sell lethal weapons to Russia for use in the battlefield. But the administration views China as having scaled back that plan and argues it is not doing as much as it could to help Mr Putin’s invasion, the people said."

(Remember when you were convinced you their meeting on Feb 4th before the invasion last year was to just make sure Putin doesn't invade Ukraine during the Olympics?

Some of us knew better.

I probably got shirts older than the people reaching the conclusions reached in that paragraph quoted above. Point is, a lot of the people in decision making positions of power these days have never known anything but neoliberalism and just cant envision the world without it. Some of us grew up before that time and we know better, and have been telling about it's downfalls all along etc.)

"China on principle rejects any sanctions apart from those agreed at the United Nations, and sees US calls on other countries to restrict trade as a violation of sovereignty. China’s imports from Russia increased almost 50 per cent in 2022 from the year before, while exports rose 13 per cent."

(It's kinda hard to argue with that first sentence.)

I love you baby.
