Watchin...

Matthew 13:24-30

The Parable of the Weeds

Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.

“The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’

“‘An enemy did this,’ he replied.

“The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’

“‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them.  Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”

(You honestly can't tell it's about to be Harvest Time?)

Matthew 13:36-39

The Parable of the Weeds Explained

3Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”

He answered, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man.  The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.

(The enemies imposters are sprouting, they are mixed in amongst the people of the kingdom. It ought to be plainly obvious to you by now harvest time is comin'...)

"An enemy of GOD opposes GODs presence."

1 John 5:19

We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.

"Believers are in GOD despite most of humanity lying in Satans power."

1 John 5:18

We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them.

1 John 2:13

I am writing to you, fathers,

because you know him who is from the beginning.

I am writing to you, young men,

because you have overcome the evil one.

Malachi 4:6

Anybody?

He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.”

John 12:31

Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out.

(This is right before the cruxifiction...this is where he is expaining what its all about...Notice the very begining... "Now is the time for judgment on this world..."

This is great :-)

"The devils sentence has not been carried out

but his fate has been sealed."

John 14:30

I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me,

"Satan rules a world that includes men and angels separated from God."

1 John 2:15-17

On Not Loving the World

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

"His impacts extends to the worlds ideologies, education and commerce. He controls the worlds thoughts, ideas, speculations and false religions. Which arose from his lies and deceptions."

Matthew 12:24

But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.”

Romans 8:7-8

The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

Isaiah 14:14

"I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;

I will make myself like the Most High.”

(It was all about his pride, led him to his downfall...)

John 8:44

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Luke 22:31

“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat.

(And god will allow him to in order purify you....

Satan wants to separate Simon peter and all the disciples from their faith.

But notice Satan had to ask, he couldn't just do it on his own accord.

Shows the power structure all involved know about...etc)

"God is in clearly in control and the devil is on a short leash."

Job 1:10

Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.

"NOTHING WAS EVER DEMANDED, RESOLVED OR DECIDED BY THE DEVIL."

"GOD WILL USE ALL BEINGS FOR THE SAKE OF HIS KINGDOM"

Zechariah 3:1

Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him.

1 Peter 5:8

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

"Satan's goal in shifting peter and the other disciples as wheat was to crush them and their faith."

John 10:10

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Luke 22:32

3But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.

(Kinda relates, lil bit, yup...)

"In the Christian life trials are to be expected, we must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God."

Acts 14:22

strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.

"GOD USES THESE EXPERIENCES TO SHAPE OUR CHARACTER.  STRENGTHEN OUR FAITHS AND MAKE US MORE LIKE CHRIST."

Romans 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

James 1:2-4

Trials and Temptations

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

1 Peter 1:6-7

In all this you greatly rejoice,

though now

for a little while

you may have had to suffer grief

in all kinds of trials.

These have come

so that the proven genuineness of your faith

—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

(Amen!)

Philippians 4:13

I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Hebrews 7:25

Therefore he is able to save completely[a] those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.

Mark 14:38

Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

"TRUE FAITH AND PERSERVERANCE ARE REVEALED THROUGH REPENTANCE AND RESTORATION, RATHER THAN SINLESS PERFECTION. WE GET UP AND WE KEEP GOING AFTER WE FALL, JUST LIKE PETER."

John 17:9-11

I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.

NABRE Footnotes John 17: 1-26

Footnotes

Climax of the last discourse(s). Since the sixteenth century, this chapter has been called the “high priestly prayer” of Jesus. He speaks as intercessor, with words addressed directly to the Father and not to the disciples, who supposedly only overhear. Yet the prayer is one of petition, for immediate (Jn 17:6–19) and future (Jn 17:20–21) disciples. Many phrases reminiscent of the Lord’s Prayer occur. Although still in the world (Jn 17:13), Jesus looks on his earthly ministry as a thing of the past (Jn 17:4, 12). Whereas Jesus has up to this time stated that the disciples could follow him (Jn 13:33, 36), now he wishes them to be with him in union with the Father (Jn 17:12–14).

it kinda does a lot toward explaining a lot of things about certain circumstances if you bother to read all the links to all those verses. particularly Jn 17:20–21 as it relates to Mysticism and Apostleship etc...)

John 17:15

I do not ask that you take them out of the world but that you keep them from the evil one.

John 10:27-28

My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand.

Hebrews 7:25

Therefore, he is always able to save those who approach God through him, since he lives forever to make intercession for them.

Philippians 1:6

I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in you will continue to complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.

(The day of Christ Jesus: the parousia or triumphant return of Christ, when those loyal to him will be with him and share in his eternal glory)

"WE ALL MAKE OUR WAY THROUGH THE VALLEY OF FAILURE, THE QUESTION IS, HOW WILL YOU RESPOND? MANY PEOPLE GIVE UP AND TRADE A VIBRANT KINGDOM SERVING LIFE FOR A DEFEATED LIFE. FAILURE DOESNT HAVE TO BE AN END IT IS AN OPPURTUNITY FOR A FRESH START IN CHRIST STRENGTH."

"PETER PUT HIS PRIDE ASIDA AND DONNED THE COURAGE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. HE THEN RISKED PUBLIC HUMILIATION, PERSECUTION AND DEATH TO SPREAD THE GOSPEL."

"FAILURE WAS A CATALYST FOR INCREASED FAITH AND TRUE SERVANTHOOD."

"We need encouragement in our daily struggles so we will not abandoned the faith and curse God in times of suffering and weakness."

Luke 22:32

"And when you have turned, strengthen your brothers..."

(Resonates...lil bit...yup...)

"GOD WILL ALWAYS SEE THAT FAITH HAS VICTORY"

1 Peter 1:3-5

II. The Gift and Call of God in Baptism

Blessing.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who in his great mercy gave us a new birth to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you who by the power of God are safeguarded through faith, to a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the final time.

John 10:27-30

My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all,[a] and no one can take them out of the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”

"THE STRENGTHENED BECOMES THE STRENGTHENER."

Psalm 30:5

For his anger lasts only a moment,

    but his favor lasts a lifetime;

weeping may stay for the night,

but rejoicing comes in the morning.
