I

mean how many do you have to see or read about
before you finally understand what was going on?

The Chankillo complex is located in the desert of the Casma Valley on the coast of Peru. To give a sense of its exceptional size, it spans an impressive area of 1.5 square miles—equivalent to around 726 football fields. This colossal dimension showcases the expansive architectural mastery and the deep-rooted cultural significance embedded within the complex, providing glimpses into the advanced civilization of its creators.

13 Towers
The towers are situated on the ridge of a small hill in Chankillo. All are rectangular in shape and have a height between 6 and 20 feet. Despite being thousands of years old, they still are in relatively good condition, underscoring their architectural resilience and enduring construction that have withstood the relentless test of time and environmental elements.

(We've seen that TV show elsewhere.)

"What is especially fascinating, however, is the arrangement of the towers and the way one reaches them. Their unique placement and structure arouse the interest of archaeologists and visitors alike, hinting at a profound understanding of space
and a mastery of architectural ingenuity by the ancient inhabitants."

Tip of the Tower

Upon close inspection, one would notice that the towers are arranged from north to south across the ridge. Between each of them, there are also evenly distributed spaces. This specific arrangement creates a distinctive, jagged panorama that provides a clue to the site’s hitherto unknown purpose,
hinting at possible celestial
or chronological significances
embedded in the structural layout."

"The thoughtful structure and planning of the complex
point to the foresight and skills of its builders,
revealing a harmonious integration of form and function,
designed with precision and intent."

"Experts believed that this aligned with what they had seen in other structures built by cults. This led archaeologists to assume that there actually was a temple at the center of Chankillo. It also implied that some sort of ritualistic behavior must have taken place on-site, shedding light on the spiritual and religious practices interwoven with the daily lives of its ancient inhabitants."

Sun Calendar

"Dr. Ghezzi focused his attention on two distinct points located within the stable walls and buildings previously mentioned. These points, positioned approximately 230 meters from the 13 towers and on either side of them, became the center of his intricate studies."

But what did the ancient civilization inhabiting this area observe? According to Dr. Ghezzi’s studies, the positions of the 13 towers coincided almost perfectly with the points where the sun rises and sets throughout the year, indicating a meticulously planned construction, far from coincidental."

"This insight convinced the scientist that the towers were positioned to observe the course of the seasons. It was an impressive architectural achievement of its time, precisely recording the sun's positions throughout the year, a dance of shadows and light speaking the language of the cosmos."

"It may sound simple, but this process provides deep insights into the rhythm of nature and the astronomical knowledge of the ancient culture, revealing the harmonious relationship between mankind and the celestial ballet."

"When the sun appears at the furthest right point of the towers, it signifies the summer solstice in Peru. This method was a sophisticated way for ancient cultures to meticulously track the changing of the seasons, a conversation between the earth and the sky marking the turning of time's wheel."

"Winter Winner

And if the sun were to rise at the opposite end of the towers, it would signal the winter solstice. Throughout the remaining year, the sun would rise at varying points along the towers. Essentially, these 13 towers functioned as a grand calendar, illustrating the advanced architectural intellect of the inhabitants."

"This realization was groundbreaking for various reasons. It altered our perception of how advanced and innovative this ancient civilization was in its observation of the heavens and its measurement of time, offering a new perspective on the technological symphony of the ancients."

(Like I said,
how many times do you have to see it?)

"This implies that the Chankillo Solar Observatory is the oldest known example of such a structure discovered to date. It is unique amongst other solar observatories due to its ability to determine time throughout the entire year. “Archaeological research in Peru continually broadens our understanding of the origins of civilization in America,” Dr. Ghezzi elaborated to Yale News."

"It's astonishing to witness the level of advancement ancient peoples had achieved in terms of astronomy and timekeeping, a tapestry of knowledge woven through the threads of time."

"Dr. Ghezzi also revealed that Chankillo predates the observatories found in Europe by approximately 1800 years and is about 500 years senior to any similar structures erected by the Mayas. This realization made it evident that humanity's ancestors had sophisticated methods for timekeeping far earlier than previously understood."

"The magnitude of this discovery demonstrated that the cultures in South America were much more advanced in astronomical observations and calendrical systems than previously thought."

"Dr. Ghezzi and Professor Ruggles believe that the 13 towers could have conveyed a specific message to the region’s inhabitants. Essentially, this message stated that whoever owned or operated the towers held sway over others, embedding a sense of authority within these ancient structures."

"It might have appeared as if they were proclaiming, “I have control over the sun!” During this era, such a claim would have been a formidable and intimidating demonstration of power and influence, sending ripples of awe and fear through the societal structure."

"It was not just the physical location that mattered, but also the knowledge and the ability to interpret the sun and its movements and to communicate their significance to the community. It was a position that bestowed both respect and authority within society."

Genesis 6:4

There were giants in the earth in those days;
and also after that,
when the sons of God
came in unto the daughters of men,
and they bare children to them,
the same became mighty men
which were of old,
men of renown.
