I have

been pretty adamant about wanting to visit there for a while now and I've always wanted to take my Jewish Brother David Lash (and maybe a companion of his) with us as well.

Ethiopia that is.

This is how they celebrate Jesus baptism in the Jordon, in the season of epiphany.

There are roughly 36 million Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church members worldwide. The vast majority of whom live in Ethiopia/Eritrea.

36 million.

That's over twice as many as there are Southern Baptist, and about three times as many as there are United Methodist.

The point is? The body of Christ is quite large indeed.

Been wanting to go to Lake Tana and visit the monasteries

as well as various other sites/pilgrimages such as:

Abuna Yemata Guh
(Ethiopias chapel in the sky, aka the worlds most dangerous church)
as well.

As well as the:

Church of Saint George, Lalibela

and numerous other sacred places as well.

Interesting facts about the
Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, it

"is the largest Oriental Orthodox church. One of the few Christian churches in sub-Saharan Africa originating before European colonization of the continent, the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church dates back centuries"

It is a founding member of the World Council of Churches. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is in communion with the other Oriental Orthodox churches, the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church, the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Syriac Orthodox Church.

The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church had been administratively part of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria from the first half of the 4th century until 1959, when it was granted autocephaly with its own patriarch by Saint Pope Cyril VI of Alexandria, Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria."

There's one in Louisville close by where my stepmother lives, and I've always wanted to go. You'd have to wear a head dress and sit on the side of the church reserved for females I do believe. Nicholas would like to go with us as well I'm pretty sure.

And thats the cross like I would like to have, but a smaller version of to wear as a necklace...yup...Been wanting one a long time but it needs be bought from a local craftsman in...guess where? Yup, Ethiopia.

I got a feeling well find something suitable for me to wear :-).

One of the points I am just gonna absolutely hammer away on when the time comes is this:

Deep south, red meat, open carry, pro life (so they say), white, evangelical "Christians" do not own the entire body of Christ. We never have and we never will. For that matter, no one denomination ever has or ever will.

Isaiah 54:2

“Enlarge the site of your tent, stretch out the curtains of your dwellings, do not hold back. Lengthen your ropes and drive your stakes in deep."

Time has come...
Its here.

I love you honey :-).
