Oh

were already way past there and our adversaries know it.

How to lose the next war: Ignore the supply chain

"The consequences of overreliance on foreign vessels are now rippling across our nation, as American agricultural and manufacturing exports are stymied in port, while foreign vessels take empty containers back to Asia for the next haul."

They leave emptyhanded and go back to get more goods from Asia because there's more $ to be made shipping things from Asia to the US than vice versa. This is where all the right wing reactionary red meat worshiping at the alter of the free market was inevitably going to wind up. Apparently it's only okay to let the "free market" decide prices as long as it's the US free market doing the deciding and we are nowhere near out of this mess yet.

Chickens come home to roost anybody?
