China military ‘ready to fight’ after drills near Taiwan

(Somebody told you they wouldn't invade but would rather seek to "blockade" the island. Who was that? Who told you? And the CSIS didn't even take it into account when they wargamed 24 different invasion scenarios because they said it would present the same exact set of circumstances/issues as an amphibious assault. Opps. I was kinda writing those guys off after I read that report and now I'm done with 'em period.)

(I read a piece a while back that said they were done with their training except for submarine/amphibious exercises that still needed to be conducted. That assumes an invasion force. "The exercises this time have focused more on air strength". They dont even have the armada of amphibious ships they would need to conduct an invasion. They aren't going to build them because they dont need them. This is 100% the route they are going to take and they have told you as much. "China’s military declared Monday it is “ready to fight”."
"The appearance of the Shandong aircraft carrier in the Pacific Ocean suggests that it could be used to prevent foreign militaries from coming to help Taiwan, said Han Gan-ming, a research fellow at the government-backed Institute for National Defense and Security Research."

"Outside of the military maneuvers, Kuo said he was worried about the announcements from Fujian’s Maritime Safety Administration from last week, when it said it would conduct “on-site inspections” of cargo ships and working vessels in the Taiwan Strait as part of a patrol exercise."
(That is a HUGE escalation.)
“First they’ll target ships traveling between the Strait, then they will target any international ship,” he said. “Gradually this will become the de facto new status quo.”
